Our Brit has played Mumford and Sons and Smooth Sailing by Tommy, gone off to eat and fallen asleep in his chair.

hbg is at ehBeth's birthday party, and our edgar is back with that great song by Judy Collins. Love Albatross, Texas.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs. First a birthday man. Had no idea he starred in the James Bond movie Octopussy.

Now, another Brit, but first some info.

Bernard Stanley "Acker" Bilk MBE (born 28 January 1929) is an English clarinettist. He is known for his trademark goatee, bowler hat, striped waistcoat and his breathy, vibrato-rich, lower-register clarinet style.

Here he is.

Glad to see that Rockhead liked Van the Man.

From Letty with love to everyone, everywhere

I had no idea too also. Perhaps because I have never seen a James Bond movie. Acker Bilk is a classic.

edgar, thanks again for your comment, and Six Days on the Road by Dave was great.

You hurry back. Brook doesn't want you to rush in with fearing angels.

Welcome back, Brit. Love Wouldn't It Be Nice by The Beach Boys featuring Dennis Wilson. So sad about his death and affiliation with Charles.

Two song for the early morning here.

First, a birthday guy, and another Brian's tribute.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, in spite of the rain, there was no rain fade blocking our signal.

I cannot tell you how that song by Ray Price filled my mind and heart. It was excellent. As you know, I love the originals.

There's a poem by Longfellow called footprints on the sands of time which also reflects Ray's musical message.

Another time song.

edgar, thanks again for your comment. Mother Nature; Father Time by Brook was excellent.

McTag, Welcome back. If I Only Had Time by John Rowles was great, as was Summer Jazz by Jimmy Gluffre. I knew most of those great jazz men, incidentally. Also love Gerry's Speak Softly and Carry a Big Sax. Great pun in the sun, buddy. What a wonderful jazz man was Gerry.

Another Lionel Richie with The Commodores.

@Letty,
Did you see that feechewer on CBS News last night. Somebody had taped a bunch of music celebs talking for posterity in the Library of Congress.

They had a clip of Dylan saying he never did do that sixties thing.

Neither did I. It was garbage compared to Lester Young and Coleman Hawkins and Count Basie. You can see some old Beatles stuff and you have to laugh. The Monkeys were ridiculous.

The sixties thing was all a hype. Look at Sir Paul doing one of his old bell ringers now and compare it to Dylan doing one of his now. Maggie's Farm say or To Ramona.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand--Ye Gods.

@spendius,
Welcome back, spendius. My preference has always been jazz, but when I sang, you learned to do what the paying public liked.

Listened to this guy at The Embers in New York

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5_FQfdrStE&feature=related

Some The Fab Four did were good, some not so good. I think it might have to do with the mood at the time.

If all the Beatles sang was I Want to Hold Your Hand, I would agree with spendi. But many of their songs are to me some of the best popular music ever done.
