@edgarblythe,
Yep, Glenn was talented and I know that he'll keep hangin' in there, edgar.

Love Jim Ed Brown. What a great job he did with "the fab fours" Yesterday.

Your song by Jim led me to remember this one, plus a shocker when I found the original.

Now, the original version.

June Tabor & Oyster Band - Son David (Later with Jools Holland).

What's the blood on the point of your sword?
O Son David, my Son David,
What's the blood on the point of your sword?
Promise, tell me true.

That's the blood of my grey mare
O Lady Mother, my Lady Mother,
That's the blood of my grey mare
She would not rule by me.

Your grey mare's blood was never so red
O Son David, my Son David,
Your grey mare's blood was never so red
Promise, tell me true.
That's the blood of my hawking hound
O Lady Mother, my Lady Mother,
That's the blood of my hawking hound
She would not rule by me.

Your hawking hound's blood was never so clear
O Son David, my Son David,
Your hawking hound's blood was never so clear
Promise, tell me true.

That's the blood of my brother John
O Lady Mother, my Lady Mother,
That's the blood of my brother John
He drew his sword to me.

What did you fall out about?
O Son David, my Son David,
It's all for a little holly bush
That'll never grow to a tree.

I'll set my foot on a bottomless boat
O Lady Mother, my Lady Mother,
Set my foot on a bottomless boat,
Sail upon the sea.

When will you come back again?
O Son David, my Son David
When will you come back again?
Promise, tell me true.

When the Sun and Moon meet in yonder glen
O Lady Mother, my Lady Mother,
When the Sun and Moon meet in yonder glen,
And that will never be.
Letty

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back once again, Brit. Love that one by June and Oyster Band. Hmmm, wonder who that song refers to? Anyway, it reminded me of this one.

If the songs were like that when I went to church Ms PD,then maybe I would have trod a different path Wink .
Diamond Jubilee celebrations for our Queen kicked off this week.Gary Barlow was asked to write an official song in celebration. He seems to have taken a leaf out of Playing For Change's book....

Gary Barlow - Sing.

Some words they can't be spoken only sung
So hear a thousand voices shouting love

There's a place, there's a time
In this life when you sing what you are feeling
Find your feet, stand your ground
Don't you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer
Knowing everyone will hear you,
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

To sing we've had a lifetime to wait
And see a thousand faces celebrate

You brought hope, you brought light
Conquered fear, it wasn't always easy
Stood your ground, kept your faith
Don't you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer
Knowing everyone will hear you,
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

Some words they can't be spoken only sung
To hear a thousand voices shouting love
And light and hope

@Barry The Mod,
Ah, Brit, Gary Barlow's Diamond Jubilee was fantastic as was edgar's Belafonte song. Loved the visuals on both. It is funny about Little David, however.

Going to say goodnight with two songs.

First, from Porgy and Bess, a response to Little David by Sportin' Life.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZV5kSEl-aw&feature=related

And now, a surprise by Bobby Darin. (it's a cover of Hank Williams)

Carrie will be flying down tomorrow.

From Letty with love to the world.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, I love Kaw Liga by Hank. Ah, those wooden Indians.

Hey, Brit. Chuck Berry's Down Bound was a mean looking train. Glad I'm not a passenger. Also love Come Back to Me by Mel's son. He has a great voice.

Two songs for the morning.

First, a birthday boy.

I recall being gathered with brother Sam and our wives. There may have been others there, too. When You Are so Beautiful came on the radio we all stopped to listen. At the end, Sam said, "That's so bad it's good."

@edgarblythe,
Funny about Sam, edgar. I used to call those kinds of songs the ones you love to hate.

Don Williams' My Best Friend is par excellent, Texas. He has a great voice.

Breaking news:

Jackie Chan goes out fighting. Claims that he wants to concentrate on acting and that his body can't take any more of the pain.

Remember him and Kris Tucker in Rush Hour? Kris: It's not you all, it yawl.

Here's a tribute to Jackie via his swan song.

Warning: some of the scenes may be a bit ribald

I have watched Jackie Chan a few times. I love the guy, but the scripts and the acting have to improve to get me back for more.

@edgarblythe,
Hmmm, There seems to be a disagreement about the folks concerning Edison Lighthouse, edgar, but I really enjoyed My Baby Loves Love regardless.

Inspired by you, I decided to play these two songs again, Texas. Perfect for Sunday, too.

Thanks again for your comments, edgar. I love that one by Edison. I sang along with Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes.

Today is Cher's birthday, so here are some memories.
