Morning Ms Letty (been buzzy I see Wink ),Ed and all WA2K peeps and a very happy Saint Georges Day to us Brits....

Ralph McTell - England.

What is it about you, makes me feel this way?
When I'm leaving you, when I'm coming home
I'm lost for words to say.
And I know your faults and failures,
And the troubles that you've been through.
But it's more about what happens now
And what were coming to.

And the echo from the green hills
Runs through our city streets,
And the sun when it shines on England
Well it lifts the heart in me.

Don't make this out a battle hymn or a song for victory.
It's just a way that you try to say what England means to me.
And our accents and our colours change
From the city to the farmland
From the moorland to the mountain,
From the river to the sea.

And the echo from the green hills
Runs through our city streets
The wind that blows through England
Breathes its life in you and me.

England, oh England
England, oh England

From the rolling road to the winding lane,
From the field to the factory,
From summer's haze to winter's glaze,
And all the colours in between.
It's a stillness in the evening.
It's the heartbeat that I'm feeling.
From Cornwall to Northumberland,
From the Pennines to the sea.

And the echo from the green hills
Runs through our city streets.
And the wind that blows through England
Well it breathes its life in you and me.

England, oh England
England, oh England

Great to see ehBeth with us last evening, and Jimmy's Forget About the World was great.

edgar, hurry back and Jerry Lee's Honky Tonk was a nice one.

hbg, Loved Jealousy. "....we danced to a tango of love..." Of course, Night and Day was wonderful.

euro, It's My life was fantastic, especially the visuals of those lovely animals. Talk Talk's theme to it was good as well.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back to you, too. Don't know Ralph's lovely song, but I see he loves his country. Ah, St. George and the Dragon. I need to refresh my memory on that one.

Here's a fantastic birthday man, and I love this fairy tale.

The instrumentation is great.

There was a radio show I listened to as a kid that played Peter and the Wolf about every couple of months. Always paid attention and enjoyed it.

euro, sleep well, dear friend and thanks for your comments and both of those lovely songs.

edgar, I knew you would like Roy's tribute, and "Little Miss dynamite" did If You Love Me Really Love Me quite well.

Inspired by our Brit's Border Collie and a lovely young Mexican girl I met today, here's one by Marty that my brother also sang.

The White Buffalo - Wish It Was True.

Mother, I tried to do right by you,
To do what you asked me to.
I did wrong, and I knew.

Mother, I tried to behave for you.
Now I'm a-diggin' a grave for you.
It was all I could do.

Find a way back home, make everything new.
I wish it was true.

Father, well I gave my soul to you.
I came in blind folded for you.
It was all that I knew.

Open your arms and I'll fly out of hell up to you.
I wish it was true.

Boy, come on out from the cold.
You're lost outside there, don't you know?
It's not what you say, it's what you do.
Just keep wishing your wishes are true.
Well your dreams, they're reality.
There's no pain, there's no misery.
Just polish the blood and the brews.
For there's just no way you can lose.
Well I wish it was true.

Country, I was a solider to you.
I did what you asked me to.
It was wrong, and you knew.

Country, now I'm just a stranger to you.
A number, a name; it's true.
Throw me away when you're through.

Home of the brave and the free; the red, white, and blue.
I wish it was true.

I was trying to recall who sang South of the Border the first time I heard it. I just spent a lot of time looking, but could not find who it was.
Here is very early Harry Belafonte with a pop song about Annabelle Lee

Wow! Our Brit was on a roll tonight. I especially liked the White Buffalo, and it reminded me of this poem.

Buffalo Bill's
defunct
who used to
ride a watersmooth-silver
stallion
and break onetwothreefourfive pigeons justlikethat
Jesus
he was a handsome man
and what I want to know is
how do you like your blue-eyed boy
Mister Death

e.e.cummings

Sleep well, Barry, and perhaps we can get ET to phone that Mexican gal and she can phone home.

edgar, Harry's version of Annabelle Lee was fantastic.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, "gentleman Jim"

How did this Italian get in here?

Fantastic mix of music on WA2K, and it's great to have Dublin and London with us today.

From Letty with love to the world.

mexicali rose, in the misty moonlight and ee cummings, all great stuff, letty.
barry's is great also.
This song is done by Terry Stafford, just the way I would expect Elvis to sing it. But, Elvis's version is not nearly this good, for some reason.

a goodnight to hbg and good luck with that test. Loved Jim Reeves' version of that song, and that Italian folksong was great.

edgar, thanks again for your comments and Suspicion by Terry was really good. My word, Texas. I recall in the recesses of my mind, "Don McNeill for president". I had forgotten that breakfast club.

euro, Judie's Stay With Me til Dawn was another good one.

Another Breakfast Club, but this one is the original that was played in that movie.

Here's another that is fascinating to me, but first some info.

The Shadows are a British pop group with a total of 69 UK hit-charted singles: 35 as 'The Shadows' and 34 as 'Cliff Richard and the Shadows', from the 1950s to the 2000s. Cliff Richard in casual conversation with the British rock press frequently refers to the Shadows by their nickname, 'The Shads'.
