@Barry The Mod,

Classy lyrics there, Johnny Mercer

Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice, warmer than the summer night
The clouds were like an alabaster palace rising to a snowy height.
Each star its own aurora borealis, suddenly you held me tight
I could see the Midnight Sun.

I can't explain the silver rain that found me--or was that a moonlit veil?
The music of the universe around me, or was that a nightingale?
And then your arms miraculously found me,suddenly the sky turned pale,
I could see the Midnight Sun.

Was there such a night, it's a thrill I still don't quite believe,
But after you were gone, there was still some stardust on my sleeve.

The flame of it may dwindle to an ember, and the stars forget to shine,
And we may see the meadow in December, icy white and crystalline,
But oh my darling always I'll remember when your lips were close to mine,
And we saw the Midnight Sun.

The flame of it may dwindle to an ember, and the stars forget to shine,
And we may see the meadow in December, icy white and crystalline,
But oh my darling always I'll remember when your lips were close to mine,
And I saw the Midnight Sun, the Midnight Sun, the Midnight Sun --
The Midnight Sun----

Good morning here in Florida, WA2K folks.

edgar, That car song was funny. Had no idea that Ray did Hide nor Hair. Ah, Snow White and those dwarfs. Love's First Kiss was delightful.

hbg, glad you are alright, and all of those jazz tunes were great. I know Red Norvo and Charles Mingus, then you threw in some Can Can by Offenbach; Spike Jones' cocktails and Snow White's Yodel song.

Hey, turtle man, welcome back to you as well. Love Midnight Sun by the "misty, miss Christy.

It's April 1st here, and I'm with our Brit. Forever and Ever was great.

Hope that I didn't miss anyone. Miss Letty sometimes gets confused!

McTag, welcome back to you as well, and thanks for the lyrics.

Our quote for today:

When April with his showers sweet with fruit
The drought of March has pierced unto the root
And bathed each vein with liquor that has power
To generate therein and sire the flower;
When Zephyr also has, with his sweet breath,
Quickened again, in every holt and heath,
The tender shoots and buds, and the young sun
Into the Ram one half his course has run...

Guess who, yawl.

A very famous classical composer's birthday is today, so let's hear one by him this early April morn.

@edgarblythe,
I love Leon Russell, edgar, but didn't know that one by him, so you sent me searching again.

"Ballad of Hollis Brown" is a blues song written by Bob Dylan, released in 1964 on his third album The Times They Are A-Changin'. The song tells the story of a South Dakota farmer, who overwhelmed by the desperation of poverty, kills his wife, children and then himself. Yikes!

Is Hollis Brown a real person? Incidentally, thanks again for your comment.

A birthday girl. She's still with us.

There is a great deal of mystery surrounding that ship; almost as much as the Titanic.

Never read much about Bismark, the man. The ship named after him made an exciting episode.
