I still have Bif's albums on vinyl, letty.
There was good music in 2001 letty. I did not rate the film itself very high.

The composer conducted its first performance on 27 November 1896 in Frankfurt. The initial fanfare – entitled "Sunrise" in the composer's program notes – became particularly well known to the general public due to its use in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

edgar, as you know I love Joan Baez and that song by her North was fantastic. Loved the visuals.

Thanks for your comment.

Hey, Brit. I appreciate your comment as well.

Dark Star by Benson Arizona was a touch of the light side. I liked it, however.

Going to say goodnight with two songs. First David Bowie.

Now a wonderful song with a new star on the horizon. She is really great. There's info on her toward the bottom of the video.

So nice to have Canada, London, Scotland, and Ireland with us today.

And Trying2learn. That one, Going in With My Eyes Open was really good.

From Letty with love to everyone, everywhere.

You know what, last year there was a guy from Iran in my ESOL class and I had to help him to fill in a form.
When we came to the bit about religion, I had assumed he was a muslim but he said no, but couldn't explain what he was. After some time, I established he was Zoroastrian.

You don't meet many of them in the queue at Greggs Bakery.

The decision to add VAT to the price of all food sold at "above ambient temperature" has confused and angered many.
David Cameron says the change was introduced to make sure the rules regarding sales of hot food are fairly applied, but critics say the lack of definition of "ambient temperature" will cause unnecessary complexity.

Good morning from here in Florida. Got my seven hours of sleep. High today 85 degrees; low, 65 degrees. Weird.

edgar, thanks again for your comments and what a surprise to find out that that former boxer sang at all. Love Stand by Me, Texas.

Well, we caught hbg before he turned in. Love Montovani, and Bud introduced me to Ted Heath. I do remember this much of your song: "...down in old Kentucky, the horse shoes are lucky.." Will check out the rest, later.

McTag, you sent me searching.

Zoroastrianism (or Mazdaism) is a religion and philosophy based on the teachings of prophet Zoroaster (also known as Zarathustra, in Avestan) and was formerly among the world's largest religions. It was probably founded some time before the 6th century BCE in Greater Iran.

Fits our memory of A Space Odyssey.

I've been to Bush Garden in Orlando and I loved the music behind the adventure. satt fs knew it instantly. (miss that clever guy).

First, some background.

Qkumba Zoo is a dance music trio from Johannesburg, South Africa, consisting of vocalist Levannah, dancer/sculptor Tziki and musician/producer Owl. The band was originally formed by Owl and Levannah as a duo called "Ocean Road".

Had no idea that they were South African.

Hurry back, Barry, McTag, hbg, euro, and edgar.

More synchronicity. Today is Celine Dion's birthday and I think we all remember this great song.

The world premiere of "Titanic 3D" is underway in London and the red carpet is teeming with the film's stars -- Kate Winslet (Rose!), Billy Zane (Cal!) and James Cameron (King of the World!) -- it's time to party like it's 1997.

Welcome back Rockhead. Loved My Guitar Gently Weeps by Santana, Indie Arie and, of course, YoYo Ma on the cello.

edgar, welcome back to you as well. Love that tribute to Eric Clapton. Cream White Room was perfect. Thanks for your comments and I just played that song because it was that guy's birthday

I recall our Rock having played this on our radio and I wondered what the bit of classical was. McTag knew. It's Ravel's Bolero.

Worth replaying, methinks.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. Judy Collins "ballata" was fantastic, and you sent me searching again.

Francesco degli Organi, Francesco il Cieco, or Francesco da Firenze, called by later generations Francesco Landini or Landino (ca. 1325 or 1335 – September 2, 1397) was an Italian composer, organist, singer, poet and instrument maker. He was one of the most famous and revered composers of the second half of the 14th century, and by far the most famous composer in Italy.

Love to learn on WA2K radio.

Guess whose birthday is today.

There are two classical bits behind this video, but I only know This is the story of a Starry Night. (no, not Don McLean's)

Vincent is my favorite artist. I can think of only a few great artists that I don't enjoy. Didn't know the starry night song. I think of William Blake's poem, quite often when viewing Van Gogh's work. Here Allen Ginsburg recites:
