@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. I figured you would know Linda Lewis. Rock a doodle do was great by that lady.

Love the different versions of It's All in the Game.

Speaking of buttercups, love this one.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar. Wow! Don't know Who You Gonna Run to, but that was one entrancing song by Blade of Grass.The visuals were also delightful. Love that new channel as well. I recall Richard Harris in A Man Called Horse. The idea behind his becoming an American Indian was the ability to tolerate pain.

From run to, to turn to.

That one by The Coasters, Youngblood, was funny. Loved it.

Well, yawl, they say that March comes in like a lion, so how about changing that to read, LINE. Razz

Some people have tried to claim this is very young Little Richard, but it actually is "Sugar Chile" Robinson - born Frank Robinson in 1938 in Detroit. A child prodigy at the age of two, he worked with Lionel Hampton and Frankie Carle (both master pianists themselves) and performed for President Truman at age seven. He appeared in the movie "No Leave, No Love" (the source of this clip) and scored two R&B hits in 1949: "Numbers Boogie" (Capitol 70037) which reached #4 and "Caldonia" (Capitol 70056) which reached #14. He stopped recording in 1952 to concentrate on academics

@edgarblythe,
Wow! thanks for that info about Frank Robinson. I know Caldonia and Hamp, of course.

I was thinking of Joan of Arc today and found this movie. Here is the movie, but one may easily find the trailer

Played this one on Rockhead's music thread.

if you love tenors and opera , listen to this :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pn_eS2XFZ5g

someone has collected over 40 hours of songs by the greatest tenors ever -
most are unknown to me .
it's just that i'd like to recognize this effort .

this leads you to " the history of the tenor " :

http://historyofthetenor.com/page.php?4

Quote:
History of the tenor was originally created between 1988 and 1990 on cassette tape as a personal project to archive the great Operatic Tenors of the 20th century.

The information contained within is the conversion to digital of more than 42 hours of narration and sound bites from analog tape as recorded by my father Sydney Barker.

Covering an 80 year period from the very first gramophone recordings these tapes provide not only a comprehensive journey covering the great tenors, their careers and the impact they made in opera music but also a history of the gramophone and how it pertains to the music itself.

Journey through the History of the Operatic Tenor as narrated by Sydney Barker either by selective acts or start from the beginning and enjoy the history as it progresses through a 80 year history captured by one man and his love of this great subject.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

hbg, Wow! That version of I Will Wait For You was excellent. Don't know Enzo, but he was fabulous.

Ah, yes. I now recall The Honeymooners. Love the hucklebuck but I recall it best by Chubby Checker.

Love O my Papa, but don't know it by that lovely lady as I recall it best by Eddie Fisher.

Hey, Brit. Any Old Sunday by Chaka Khan was great.

More synchronicity, yawl. Today is Vivaldi's birthday, and this fits perfectly for the weather here in our wee studio.

@hamburgboy,
hbg, What a great song for a walk along the Rhine. Love Schumann. I guess you realize that he had bi-polar disorder, which happens to creative people and is often inherited. My favorite by him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMVJ0P-Sfvg&feature=related

He attempted suicide and then asked to be admitted to a mental institution. His wife Clara/Claire continued with his music after his death.

Yundi Li's face reflects what he must have felt for that creative genius.

@edgarblythe,
Hilarious, edgar. I didn't realize that Allan Sherman had died so young. I loved his parody on camp Granada, too.

Incidentally, there was a campground in Florida called Camp Granada. What a shock to climb over the dunes and see coral everywhere.

Another Granada by Mario.
