Irish, I was captivated by the song and the video of Ronan Hardiman. I was attempting to ascertain the background music. I think I heard a contra bass being bowed, but not certain.

Even in the Quietest Moments was wonderful as well. Don't know Roger Hodgson, so thanks for your comments and the introduction.

edgar, you know, of course, that Don introduced me to Buddy Holly. Didn't know Ting A Ling, however. That one gave me a smile, Texas. Fantastic about Mario, and your comments are always appreciated.

Today is Phil Collins' birthday. First some info.

Philip David Charles "Phil" Collins, LVO (born 30 January 1951), is an English singer-songwriter, drummer, pianist and actor best known as a drummer and vocalist for British progressive rock group Genesis, Brand X, a solo artist, producer (Eric Clapton, John Martyn, Adam Ant, Howard Jones, Frida, Robert Plant etc.), author and session musician.

More synchronicity, Irish. Did you see John Martyn? Love it.

Here is Phil with another angel.

@edgarblythe,
Both angels were great folks, Phil Collins - High Flying Angel, a great tune.
Aren't we lucky to have access to little gems like 'Got A Date With An Angel' by Hal Kemp. A great tune.
Go Go You Tube!.

Ronan Hardiman - - - - - Cry of the Celts.
Good night.

edgar, Don't know that one by Hal Kemp but I do know the melody.

euroGeorge, Thanks again for your comments and your goodnight song was fabulous. Love Irish music. Cry of the Celts by Ronan Hardiman was one that I didn't know. Sleep well, Dublin.

Time for me to say goodnight as well.

I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First a tribute to Gene Hackman whose birthday is today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmsCpUYkhvg

Some info on Gene.

Eugene Allen "Gene" Hackman[1] (born January 30, 1930) is an U.S. actor and novelist.

Nominated for five Academy Awards, winning two, Hackman has also won three Golden Globes and two BAFTAs in a career that spanned five decades. He first came to fame in 1967 with his performance as Buck Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde. His major later films include The French Connection (1971), in which he played Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle; The Poseidon Adventure (1972); The Conversation (1974); Young Frankenstein (1974); Superman (1978), in which he played arch-villain Lex Luthor; Hoosiers (1986); Mississippi Burning (1987); Unforgiven (1992); Get Shorty (1995); The Birdcage (1996); Enemy Of The State (1998); and The Royal Tenenbaums

Now one by Jimmy Wakely that I have played before here, but I am fascinated with the man's voice.

UhOh, yawl. Leap year is coming up.

Remember this?

Thirty day has September, April June and November all the rest have 31 except that quite contrary February that has 28 most of the time except in Leap Year 29

Great to have Canada and Dublin with us. Hope London joins us tomorrow.

From Letty with love to the world

I used to listen to Jimmy Wakely on the radio, as a kid. Always liked him on his own. Didn't always care for him with Margaret Whiting.
Just saw Gene Hackman as a bit player in a 50s or 60s TV western.
I like that Celtic song, euro.

while relaxing in the laz-a-boy i remembered a german radio program from the late 40's / early 50's - yes , before youtube Wink

it was called " herr sanders oeffnet seinen schallplatten-schrank "
( mr. sanders opens his record cabinet ) .
his music was played in no particular order - opera might be followed by a village band .

i'll just give it a try .

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, Loved Richie Valens' We Belong Together.

hbg, you were on a roll, buddy.

Listened to every song that you played here. Ah, accordions and calliopes. Loved them. Really enjoyed all the music and particularly enjoyed the aria by Rosalind at La Scala.

Welcome back, Brit. Cedric jams in Glascow was great. Ah, jam sessions. Loved those because everyone who knew how could perform and not get paid.

Awakened this morning to Robert Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor doing Ivanhoe. Like this version better. Sorry for the abrupt ending, but I think you get the message. Sam and Olivia.

For some reason, I never got into Ivanho. Don't know why. It's colorful and full of conflict -
Good morning. Got a busy one ahead. See you all later.

@Rockhead,
Welcome back, Rock. Who is Mr H? I'm doing well, thank you.

Don't know Dirtmusic Collisons, but the one line "...Jesus was a gringo..." was interesting as I have been looking for the etymology of that term for a long time. Don't think it had to do with the song "...green grow the lilacs.." , however. Dear palindromic Bob. Had he been dyslexic it would have been dod. Razz

Great song, Kansas, and here's one to match.
