@Letty,
Michael Buble is a good singer, Miss Letty. I've seen him on chat shows and he seems like a good guy too.
I knew Carol hadn't gone anywhere. Razz

Gil Scott Heron - Gun.

Brother Man nowadays living in the ghetto
Where the danger's sure enough real
Well when he's out late at night
and if he's got his head on right
Well, I lay you 9 to 5 he's walking with steal.

Brother Man says he's 'fraid of gangsters
Messing with people just for fun
He don't want to be next
He got a family to protect
So just last week he bought himself a gun.

Everybody got a pistol, everybody got a 45
And the philosophy seem to be
At least as near as I can see
When other folks give up theirs, I'll give up mine.

This is a violent civilization
If civilization's where I am
Every channel that I stop on
Got a different kind of cop on
Killing them by the million for Uncle Sam

Saturday night just ain't that special
Yeah, I got the constitution on the run
'Cause even though we've got the right
To defend our home, to defend our life
Got to understand to get it in hand about the guns

Everybody got a pistol, everybody got a 45
And the philosophy seem to be
At least as near as I can see
When other folks give up theirs, I'll give up mine.

Saturday night just ain't that special
Freedom to be afraid is all you want
Yes if you don't want to be next
You've got a family to protect
9 out of 10, you've got a friend, you've got a gun.

Everybody got a pistol, everybody got a 45
And the philosophy seem to be
At least as near as I can see
When other folks give up theirs, I'll give up mine.

Everybody got a pistol, this mosty be the NRA
Yeah 'cause when it's time to line up
You know damn well they're gonna shine up
Everybody...

And the philosophy seem to be
At least as near as I can see
When other folks give up theirs, I'll give up mine

Laters WA2K.

Goodnight, dear Irish. Don't know Pink Floyd's Brain Damage Eclipse. Liked it.

Welcome back, Brit and you sleep well, too. So glad that you had a good time at the China town of London.

Great one by Gil Scott. Love modern soul. Don't know him, but we all appreciate the introduction.

edgar, Love Steely Dan. Don't know Gaucho either, but as usual, they perform it well.

Time for me to say goodnight, too. It's a bit early, but I'm making up for hanging out with the kids all day and into the dark.

Today is Victor Mature's birthday and I didn't realize how many folks appreciate his acting ability. Odd, because the only one I remember is Samson and Delilah.

First, a tribute to the man by Peggy Lee.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7c55KpqQzTY

Now, the theme from the movie showing Delilah looking smug and beautiful

So nice to have other countries with us today. I just acknowledged two of them

From Letty with love and a sleepy smile.

Good one, barry.
Victor Mature played Doc Holiday with Henry Fonda's Wyatt Earp, letty.
He was in After the Fox with Peter Sellers. I saw him in a number of films.
Here is Nat King Cole, with a song Pat Boone made popular. It was written by Ivory Joe Hunter, who wrote and recorded Since I Met You Baby. I had no idea Nat did this one.

hbg, Loved Lime House Blues and Preservation Hall doing Just a Closer Walk with thee.

edgar, thanks for the explanation of Victor Mature and his other movies. Didn't know that Nat did that one either, Texas. Hurry back.

Didn't sleep too well last evening wondering if the kids from Orlando got home safely. Finally heard via email, but it was really late.

Today is Eddie Cantor's birthday; he and Al Jolson were friends.

Funny song by the man.

@hamburgboy,
funny, hbg. Would that accent be German? Used to love comic strips when I was a kid. Still have my book on Pogo Possum. Also love Bullwinkle and Rocky.

Speaking of Al Jolson, still have no idea why I know this one.

Here's the lovely 'Leslie Dowdall' from Howth in Dublin.
She had some success with the band 'In tua nua' and has released several solo albums. For the life of me I could never understand why she didn't become a huge star.

In Tua Nua - - - - Seven into the Sea.

@eurocelticyankee,
Welcome back, euro. You are quite right about, "...they don't make 'em like that anymore.." In a moment, I'll show a man who agrees with you.

John Martyn's Sweet Little Mystery was great as were Tua Tua's Seven into the Sea and Leslie's Wonderful Thing.

Thanks once more for your comments, Irish.

Here's the man and here's the song.

Good afternoon. I have not rested from work yet. Stayed an hour over to get the ding-gasted spray painting done. I love Eddie Cantor, Nat King Cole and Al Jolson since childhood. Used to hear Eddie on the radio quite a bit. The Katzenjammer Kids was an interesting comic. When it was still pretty new, there was a dispute as to who had the right to draw the strip and distribute it. The compromise was, one kept it as is, while the other drew the same characters and called the new strip about them The Captain and the Kids. I will be back later got to eat and rest some. My arm is a bit sore, because I missed a step and fell backwards on the walk. It broke my fall.

@edgarblythe,
Hope you're ok there, Ed. Mind yourself.

Mario was great Miss Letty.

I'll introduce you now to a guy whom I'm sure few if any of you will have heard of. Not by name anyway but you might well have heard his music.
His name is 'Ronan Hardiman' and he is famous for composing the soundtrack to Michael Flatley's world famous show 'The lord of the Dance'
He has released a few albums of his own too and incidentally the aforementioned 'Leslie Dowdall' provides vocals to his music.

Ronan Hardiman - - - - Angel.

Angel is a goodie.
My first wife used to laugh at me for listening to this Buddy Holly record. Made no difference. I have always listened to what I like, no matter what.
