@eurocelticyankee,
Great one, Irish. Didn't know him then, but that kid singing looked as though he had lipstick on. I saw Jools at the piano with his t-shirt that said Squeeze.

I have a reason for playing this one, and will explain why later.

I recall the English lyrics and don't know why I know them.

Now is the hour when we must say goodbye,
Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea.

While you're away o please remember me.
When you return you'll find me waiting here

@Letty,
Liked the Maori singers, Miss Letty.

Here's a guy I just don't hear played on the radio enough these days, Joe Jackson.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SPogGqCgeM

I was a big fan of Joe, with lyrics like "I get so mean around the scene", who wouldn't be?. Razz

@eurocelticyankee,
Great, Irish, and you sent me searching again.

Joe Jackson (born David Ian Jackson, 11 August 1954, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, is an English musician and singer-songwriter now living in Berlin, whose five Grammy Award nominations span from 1979 to 2001. He is probably best known for the 1979 hit song "Is She Really Going Out with Him?", which still gets extensive FM radio airplay; for his 1982 hit, "Steppin' Out"; and for his 1984 success with "You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)".

That was a wonderful song, and thanks again for the introduction and your comment.

I'll bet hbg will know this lady.

euro, thanks again for your comments and I love Savage Garden's Truly, Madly, Deeply.

Welcome back, edgar. I know that one, too. No Help Wanted is funny in a way.

Ah, yes, hbg. I know Elvis alright. I once said that ehBeth and Setanta were really those two. Razz

Here's a surprise. Just found out that The Animals did Nat Adderly's Work Song. Had know idea that great jazz song had lyrics.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment, edgar. Don't know She Said She Said by the fab four. It was a good one. (incidentally, that should have been NO idea. homonyms are tricky.)

Outside our studio window, there was a plethora of black birds searching for food, and it reminded me of this one. Odd, because it's pitch black here right now.

We saw black birds at the park. About fifteen buzzards were gathered around some dead fish near the lake.

edgar, I didn't know that Betty Hutton did that song. I vaguely recall her in The Greatest Show on Earth. When we were kids we use to count our buttons:

Rich man, poor, man, beggar man, thief. doctor, lawyer, Indian chief

Goodnight, dear Euro. The Doing The Heartland was great. Yep, the rich get rich and the poor get poorer.

How about a surprise, yawl

@edgarblythe,
I think Haydn did that to wake everyone up who was in the audience.

I remember Snooky Lanson's name only, but stop, let me off this bus was great

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with another classic, replete with lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtA9Js-22ko

Softly through the moonlit night --
I sing to you, my love...
As I wait to hear your footsteps --
To the silent grove...

In the moonlight, swaying treetops,
Whispering breezes blow.
Have no fear of harsh intruders --
Here I'll hold you close.

Hear the nightingales a-calling
Through the leaves above...
Silvery music over the garden
For the one I love...

How they know the tender burning
Of my heart so true
Crying for the pain of yearning,
All my love for you.

Calling you to love and passion,
Nightingales implore.
Trembling now my arms are open...
For you who I adore.

Glad to see and hear Dublin and Ontario with us tonight. Hope Barry the Brit's is okay.

From Letty with love that never changes

Thanks again, edgar, for your comment on Serenade. Merle's Sing Me Back Home was great.

Welcome back, Brit. Loved that one by James Hunter and thanks for the info. People Gonna Talk did sound like Sam Cooke. The instrumentation was good as well. Saxs, guitars, organ, drums. Thanks for the introduction, London.

How about The Gap band.
