@edgarblythe,
Love that one by The Stones, edgar. Yep, The Salt of the Earth tells it like it is right now. Reminds me of this opera.

@Letty,
Enjoyed the bit of Cohen, something to look forward to.
Enjoyed The Lettermen too and that was a great song by the Stones.

It was funny to see Kenneth Williams playing Jack in 'The Beggar's Opera', he of course went on to star in a lot of the Carry On films and became probably their best loved character. Here's a clip from 'Carry on Screaming' I've always loved.

@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks again for your comments, Irish. That Carry On Screaming was hilarious.

Eric's All By Myself made me a wee bit sad, however.

Here's a funny one by Steve Martin.

@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks, Irish, for your comment.

Elvis was fantastic on Blame it On the Bossa Nova. What a great looking guy in the olden days. I had forgotten how well he sang, too. I simply can't believe that there was nothing they could do to help him.

Another one by him.

Everybody in the comments were praising Harry Belafonte's voice, in the Carmen video. Actually, somebody else did the singing for his character in that movie.

I used to have an album by Frankie titled Command Performance. It had his best recordings to that point. Here is a favorite of mine from that album.

edgar, thanks for your comments on last evening's music. I knew that about Carmen Jones and couldn't understand why since Harry's voice is great.

I remember Jezebel by him. Hurry back, buddy.

hbg, John Belushi's Samurai was humorous Too bad about his problems. Here are the English lyrics to your German song.

Yours is my heart alone
And without you, life holds no charm.
Yours every thought I own,
Our love the theme of every dream.
All that makes life seem worthwhile
Dwells in your eyes and the spell of your smile.
There is no song half so sweet to me
As your voice whispering I love you dear.

When far away or near you
In dreams I see and hear you
And yielding to your fascination
I kneel to you in adoration dear, you alone
My queen shall reign and my heart you enchain
All day I sigh for you and I dream on the night
I live or die for you my adored vision bright

All that makes life seem worthwhile
was in your eyes and the spell of your smile
There is no song half so sweet to me
as your voice whispering I love you dear.

Love that one, Canada.

One of my favorites by Frankie.

@hamburgboy,
Fantastic, hbg. Reminds me of The Midnight Sun song. "....your lips were like a red and ruby chalice..." Don't know that one, but it was great.

Another birthday guy Jools Holland. Wonder if he's German?
