Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, liked your goodnight song, Little Willie Sleep. Don't know Johnny, but God, Country, and My Baby was good.

hbg, The Log Driver's Waltz was also great, as was Mambo by Simon Kattle. Dolly's Nine to Five I know. She wrote all the songs for that one.

A couple of songs for the morning, yawl. More synchronicity.

Today is Edgar Allan Poe's birthday and here is his bedroom at UVA.

Strange, I just did his quote on edgar's "one for the day"

and here's one for Mitt Romney.

So long ago, the Mormon elders came to our door and Bud said, Come on in Elmers.

Good morning. Our warm weather resumes this day.
Good Raven tribute. I didn't understand the connection with Mit and the Caymans.

@hamburgboy,
welcome back, hbg. You're right, sly as an old fox. Razz

Bad news. Kodak has gone bankrupt. George Eastman who made the first hand held camera would be grief stricken. He was one of the few moguls that I admired.

Here's a birthday man that I don't know, but he's great. First some info.

Robert Allen Palmer (19 January 1949 – 26 September 2003), born in Batley, Yorkshire, was a Grammy Award-winning English singer-songwriter. He was known for his distinctive voice and the eclectic mix of musical styles on his albums, combining soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae and blues. He found success both in his solo career and in the musical act Power Station, and had Top 10 songs in both the US and the UK. He died of a heart attack.

Here he doing a great song that I truly like and says it all.

Lester Raymond Flatt (June 19, 1914 – May 11, 1979) was a bluegrass musician and guitarist and mandolinist, best known for his membership in the Bluegrass duo The Foggy Mountain Boys, also known as "Flatt and Scruggs," with banjo picker Earl Scruggs. Flatt's career spanned multiple decades; besides his work with Scruggs, he released multiple solo and collaboration works. Flatt also served as a member of Bill Monroe's band during the 1940s.

Welcome back, Rock. Addicted to Love was a great one.

hbg, I remember those boys best for this one.

Will have to wait for our edgar to decide about that one, buddy.

I did see Porter Wagoner in there and, as you know, Dolly sang, I Will Always Love you for him.

@edgarblythe,
Well there's our edgar. Thanks for your comments on what we play here. You sent me searching again, Texas.

Rex Elvie Allen (December 31, 1920 – December 17, 1999) was an American film actor, singer and songwriter, known as the Arizona Cowboy, particularly known as the narrator in many Disney nature and Western film productions. For contributions to the recording industry, Allen was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I enjoyed Nothing to Do.

Another birthday boy.

@hamburgboy,
hbg, That Steel Guitar music was great. I know that first song that he played, but can't remember the title.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a lovely Rhapsody.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4HkZDqDm54&feature=related

And, the lyrics.

And when I hear you call so softly to me,
I don't hear a call at all, I hear a rhapsody.
And when your sparkling eyes are smiling at me,
Then soft through the starlit skies, I hear a rhapsody

My days are so blue when you're away,
My heart longs for you, so won't you stay?

My darling, hold me tight and whisper to me
Then soft through the starry night I hear a rhapsody

Nice to have Kansas with us today and, of course, Ontario.

Wonder where our Texan is?

from Letty with love to everyone

I have always liked Ray Connif. Bobby McGee was Janis's only number one recording. I like her much better on the Cheap Thrills album.

Good morning from here in Florida.

edgar, Marty doing Hawaiian was great. Drowsy Waters is a good one. Also loved Judy Collins' acapella version of Fair well to Tarwathi. The song of the various wales as well as Orca was so wistful. Don't recall your having played that one. Thanks again for your comments.

Hey, Brit, welcome back. Hope you enjoyed the gig. Don't know King of Hearts by Cookies, but it was a wonderful song. You and edgar hurry back.

A couple of songs for today. First, a birthday man.

@Letty,
it's still before noon but Ray Anthony has invited us to his birthday party for some " Dream Dancing " - so let's head over to his place .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3byw5IecubM

Quote:
Ray Anthony (born January 20, 1922) is an American bandleader, trumpeter, songwriter and actor.

As a child Anthony, born Raymond Antonini in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he studied the trumpet with his father. He played in Glenn Miller's band from 1940–1941 and appeared in the Glenn Miller movie Sun Valley Serenade in 1941 before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he formed his own group. The Ray Anthony Orchestra became very popular in the early 1950s, with recordings that included Anthony's classic dance songs "The Bunny Hop" and the "Hokey Pokey," as well as the theme music from Dragnet.[1] He had a #2 chart hit with a remake of the Glenn Miller tune, "At Last" in 1952.
