@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for the comment, edgar. Joan Baez's Silver Dagger was great. Don't know that one by her, however. It did lead me to this one.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, Linda got herself in trouble when she was in Las Vegas. She also became ill and put on a lot of weight. I really like Johnny Horton as you know. Didn't know The Mansion You Stole,however.

How about our artwork for today. Today is this Mexican's birthday. Sorry the ending is so abrupt.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment, edgar. Wow! I had no idea that today was "the king's" birthday. Blue Moon is a nice tribute.

It seems that Elvis sang better as he aged, Texas.

My favorite by him.

I think it's a matter of taste. I like many of his first records as much as his later ones.
Without looking it up, I think this was one of his final charted songs

David Bowie has been immortalised in stone to celebrate turning 65. Artist Ed Chapman created this tile mosaic of the Starman in time for his milestone birthday.

edgar, I loved "the king's" Suspicious Mind.

Hey, Brit. This must be birthday day on WA2K.

Love David Bowie, and Let's Dance was great. Thanks for the info on his stone memorial.

Another birthday man who was once a member of The Rat pack. What a sad life he had as well.

@edgarblythe,
I had no idea that Sammy was Jewish, edgar.

Love the Fast Freight by The Kingston Trio, Texas. Didn't know that one, so thanks for the introduction.

Joan sings about another Freight Train, but the lyrics with which I am most familiar are the ones by Peter, Paul, and Mary.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_wrFI-Kbxk&feature=related

Freight train freight train goin’ so fast
Freight train freight train goin’ so fast
Please don’t tell what train I’m on
So they won’t know where I’ve gone.

Freight train, freight train, comin’ round the bend
Freight train, freight train, gone again
One of these days turn that train around
Go back to my hometown.

(chorus)

One more place I’d like to be
One more place I’d love to see
To watch those old blue ridge mountains climb
As I ride ol’ number nine.

(chorus)

When I die please bury me deep
Down at the end of bleecker street
So I can hear ol’ number nine
As she goes on down the line.

@edgarblythe,
Frankly, edgar, I thought that song was funny, double entendre and all. I vaguely recall Meat Loaf.

Going to say goodnight a bit early this evening, and here is a wonderful montage of "old blue eyes" and Jobim.

Glad to have London and Ontario with us.

Good morning from here in Florida, WA2K folks.

hbg, Gold Finger by Shirley Bassey is my favorite theme of the James Bond movies. Tom Jones' She's a Lady is great.

edgar. Lord I hope This Day is Good by Don Williams was a perfect song to greet the day. Also love Dinah's Manhattan. Thanks for the memory, Texas.

Guess whose birthday is today, Texas. He's still with us.

My favorite movie by him was about Van Gogh
