@hamburgboy,
Ah, Heart and Soul. Love that song because my older sister and I use to play it as a duet on piano.

Here's my favorite by Hoagy, hbg.

@hamburgboy,
this is also the birthday of THE BROTHERS GIBB " of the bee-gees .
here is a fine song :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovASg2ewwMw

Quote:
The Bee Gees are a musical group which originally comprised three brothers: Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their 40-plus years of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s and early 1970s and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang three-part tight harmonies that were instantly recognisable; Robin's clear vibrato lead was a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. The brothers co-wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.

Born in the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived their first few years in Chorlton, Manchester, England, then moved in the late 1950s to Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia, where they began their musical careers.[1] After achieving their first chart success in Australia with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the United Kingdom in January 1967 where producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience. It has been estimated that the Bee Gees' career record sales total more than 220 million,[2] making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997;[3] the presenter of the award to "Britain's first family of harmony" was Brian Wilson, historical leader of the Beach Boys, a "family act" also featuring three harmonising brothers.[4] The Bee Gees' Hall of Fame citation says "Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees".[3]

Following Maurice's sudden death in January 2003, Barry and Robin Gibb ended the group after 45 years of activity. In 2009, however, Robin announced that he and Barry had agreed that the Bee Gees would re-form and perform again.[5]

@hamburgboy,
Don't know How Can You Mend a Broken heart by the Bee Gees, hbg. Thanks for that info on the trio. Had no idea that Maurice had died.

Here's one by them that I remember from Saturday Night Fever.

The selections are moving too fast for me to keep up with, comment wise. I love Hoagy, the BeeGees and like the Puccini music.

hbg, loved your slideshow of Christmas in Hamburg, Germany. Also enjoyed the American songs you interwove with them.

I've eaten bratwurst and sour Kraut. Love it.

edgar, Neil's song Laughter in the Rain was great. I didn't used to like him until I heard him do The Immigrant.

Don't worry about commenting on all of the songs that we play here. Often it's impossible. (another good song)

Here's Neil doing The Immigrant.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs. First, A Hard Day's Night. It was what I told Barry the Brit when he said he was working day and night.

Now, our Izzie gave me another memory. It's a good one now.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

hbg, Thanks for all of your great music; especially enjoyed Vivaldi.

edgar, thanks again for your comments on what we play here. Deano's White Christmas and Lousiana Man were fabulous. Thanks for the music, Texas.

Welcome back, Brit. Glad you enjoyed your birthday wishes and that's a great one by Wilson Pickett.

How about a little jazz for the early morning.

And, folks, the lyrics

Softly as in a morning sunrise
The light of love comes stealing
Into a newborn day

Flaming with all the glow of sunrise
A burning kiss is sealing
A vow that all betray

For the passions that thrill love
And take you high to heaven
Are the passions that kill love
And let it fall to hell
So ends the story

Softly as in a morning sunrise
The light that gave you glory
Will take it all away

Hey, Brit. I love that song. (don't think Cary Grant really said that) You're Nobody til Somebody Loves you reminds me of J.L.Nobody and Gus. So long ago when we had the chat room, that was my contribution. It is a philosophy in music.

Spendius , Welcome back. Don't know that song, but it was funny.

Today is Jose Greco's birthday. First some info.

Jose Greco (December 23, 1918 – December 31, 2000) was a flamenco dancer and choreographer.

He was born in Montorio nei Frentani, Italy of Italian parents. He was raised in New York City from the time he was 10 years old. He began dancing in Brooklyn with his sister Norina at a young age.

Not only can all Italians sing, they can also dance.

He also did an imitation of Edgar Allen Poe, but it was too sad to play. "...ah, twas in the bleak December..."

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I love that song, edgar. Buddy sounds a bit like "old blue eyes". We often lose our signal here, so glad that you are back in our studio.

Roses Are Blooming in Picardy is truly great.

Another rose, yawl.
