@Barry The Mod,

Modish Baz, we are yet again indebted. Love it. "The profits do foretell...."

Maldon, Essex. I've been there. The Blue Boar Hotel is well worth a vizz. And oysters by the shore, and the sailing barges, marvellous.

Good morning from here in Florida, WA2K folks.

hbg, I really love The Vienna Boys' Choir and that one was excellent by those kids. You gave all of us a smile with your comment about not being part of the group. Always learn from your information, Ontario.

Brit, The Recession Carol was both good and sad at the same time. Have any depression carols?

McTag, Always appreciate your brief comments. They say so much.

edgar, What a great way to begin the day. Stevie Wonder's One Little Christmas Tree was a great comment in itself. Didn't know that one by the Wonder man. Thanks for the introduction.

To begin another day, how about a tribute to this birthday boy and Sweden.

Brit, that is a fabulous version of Quiet Nights and Quiet Stars. Thanks for the new version.

Hey, Irish. Luke Kelly's Black Velvet Band was a wonderful example of the brogue and the velvet voice of many Irishmen. Rather reminds me of The Girl in the Blue Velvet Band.

Another birthday boy, and I am always amazed that he could not hear and yet wrote so many wonderful classics.

I think most of us know the lyrics to Ode to Joy, so there's no need to translate.

@Letty,
No doubt that's some of Beethoven's best music Miss Letty, I enjoyed that.

Now here's some music that would have poor Ludwig rolling in his grave. Razz

@hamburgboy,
hbg, Love that locomotive song in German. Danke. Here's one to match.

This wasn't really a train, but it did have to do with the hobo

Okay now, here's one by Simon and Garfunkle, describing this dark December
day up here in the north country. Let it spin, Letty.

Miss Ann

Good afternoon. Good contributions today. I was happily surprised to like letty's tribute to the guitar man. I usually don't care for the zz top kind of music.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I just chose the best tribute that I could find for that Texas birthday man.

Don't know Miss Ann by Little Richard, but it was a good one.

Here's another "Ann" song. This time it's Annie.

Annie is a great song. It is one of those I have to listen to it begin before I can match the title with the music.

@edgarblythe,
You sent me searching again, edgar.

William Ackerman was born in West Germany but was adopted by a couple who lived in Palo Alto, California. A self-professed poet and musician who briefly studied guitar with Robbie Basho, Ackerman grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He attended the Northfield Mount Hermon School and Stanford University. Before finishing his studies at Stanford, Ackerman dropped out to become a carpenter. Ackerman had composed some pieces of music for a performance of Romeo and Juliet at Stanford. In 1975, without having played a "paying gig"

What a wonderful guitar version of Anne's song

Also searched for John Denver's meaning by Annie's song.

Denver paid loving tribute to his wife by dedicating this album to her, and with 'Annie's Song,' a number one hit in July '74, Annie Denver recalls the beginnings: 'It was written after John and I had gone through a pretty intense time together and things were pretty good for us. He left to go skiing and he got on the Ajax chair on Aspen mountain and the song just came to him. He skied down and came home and wrote it down... Initially it was a love song and it was given to me through him, and yet for him it became a bit like a prayer.'

"'The first time I heard "Annie's Song," I told John it had the same melody as Tschaikovsky's "Fifth Symphony, Second Movement,"' says Milt Okun. 'He walked over to the piano, sat for an hour and came back, and the only thing remaining from Tschaikovsky was the first five notes. It was fantastic.

Love to learn on WA2K radio.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs. First a birthday boy.

Great Noel Coward song, letty.
Elton's song doesn't have that Christmas feel, but it's a pretty good song.
