Afternoon Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K peeps.Here's my fave new Christmas song of 2011....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=644U-jMpDUw
Smith & Burrows - When The Thames Froze.

God damn, this snow
Will I ever get where I wanna go
And so I skate, across the Thames
Hand in hand, with all my friends

And all the things, that we planned
My son’s eyes in the outline of his hand
And even though I hate the cold
A constant reminder that I’m getting old

Another year draws to its close,
Entire London slows
But when I dream tonight, I’ll dream of you
When the Thames... froze

God damn, this government
Will they ever tell me, where the money went
Protesters march out on the street
As young men sleep amongst the feet

Another year draws to its close,
Entire London slows
When I dream tonight, I’ll dream of you
When the Thames... froze

Tell everyone that there’s hope in your heart
Tell everyone or it will tear you apart
The end of Christmas day, when there’s nothing left to say
The years go by so fast, let’s hope the next beats the last

So tell everyone that there’s hope in your heart
Tell everyone or it will tear you apart
The end of Christmas day, when there’s nothing left to say
The years go by so fast, let’s hope the next beats the last

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. Love Smith & Burrows' When the Thames Froze. Rather sad for the last day of Christmas, however.

Here's one to match by The Eagles.

Sorry about the rather abrupt ending

Always looked forward to Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Did not dislike Dorothy Lamour, but never cared for her films. Didn't recall Hell Freezes Over.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comments, edgar. Didn't know The Little Christmas Tree by Nat. I loved it.

Speaking of patois, I love the Irish brogue. Here's one that exemplifies what I mean.

@Letty,
another birthday we should not forget is that of Morton Gould -

Quote:
Morton Gould (December 10, 1913 – February 21, 1996) was an American composer, conductor, arranger, and pianist.

Born in Richmond Hill, New York, Gould was recognized early as a child prodigy with abilities in improvisation and composition. His first composition was published at age six. Gould studied at the Institute of Musical Art, although his most important teachers were Abby Whiteside and Vincent Jones.

his boogie-woogie is nicely interpreted by another great musician :
Michel LeGrand :

Quote:
Michel Jean Legrand (born 24 February 1932, in Bécon-les-Bruyères in the Paris suburbs) is a French musical composer, arranger, conductor, and pianist. His father Raymond Legrand was a conductor and composer renowned for hits such as Irma la douce and his mother, Marcelle Der Mikaëlian (sister of conductor Jacques Hélian), who married Legrand Senior in 1929, was descended from the Armenian bourgeoisie.[1]

Legrand is a prolific composer, having written over 200 film and television scores in addition to many memorable songs.[2] He is best known for his often haunting film music and scores, such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) and The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) featuring the song "The Windmills of Your Mind" for which he won his first Academy Award.[3]

You just read my mind. Are you a mentalist? I thought of this one when we had to seek shelter from hurricane Frances. Love Windmills of your mind, buddy.

edgar, Thanks for your comments. Didn't know Hello Hello Baby by Jerry Lee, but it was a good one.(rather reminded me of The Big Bopper)

hbg, Julius La Rosa is still with us in spite of that ukelele playing Arthur. Love Eh Cumpari. He did all the instruments on that one.

Going to say goodnight a wee bit early tonight, as I've been working in our wee studio getting things cleaned up for my company

Andrea again. Love this guy's voice and this one I used to sing when I was a wee thing.

Don't think that needs translating.

Goodnight, and glad to see Ontario, London, and Ireland with us.

From Letty with love and a wave to the world.

@edgarblythe,
Morning, WA2K folks. Awakened to the sound of the kids clanging pots and pans in my studio kitchen.

edgar, I really like Roy's Pretty Paper, but had no idea that Willie Nelson had done it originally. Thanks again for your comment.
