@eurocelticyankee,
Yep, Irish. His voice said so much even though it was gravelly.

Love Blondie's Union City Blue. Didn't know that one by her, so thanks for the introduction. I remember her best for Heart of Glass.

Hmmm. Wonder if anyone remembers Eli Wallach. Today is his birthday. Here is the trailer from The Good; The Bad; and The Ugly.

I think that odd noise in the background is supposed to be coyotes howling.

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. You sent me searching again.

Wilson Phillips is an American vocal group consisting of Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, and Chynna Phillips.

Their 1990 self-titled debut album sold over 10 million copies worldwide and scored three number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, making the trio the best-selling female group at the time. In 1990, the group won the Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year for "Hold On", and in addition was nominated for four Grammy Awards and two American Music Awards.

Love Hold On, but Simon and Garfunkel say "slow down, you move too fast"

We'll dedicate that to our firefly.

@Letty,
today is Harry Chapins birthday - so let's hear from him :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_O6TpEjTU4

Quote:
Harry Forster Chapin (December 7, 1942 – July 16, 1981) was an American singer-songwriter best known in particular for his folk rock songs including "Taxi", "W*O*L*D", and the number-one hit "Cat's in the Cradle". Chapin was also a dedicated humanitarian who fought to end world hunger; he was a key player in the creation of the Presidential Commission on World Hunger in 1977.[1] In 1987, Chapin was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his humanitarian work.

@eurocelticyankee,
euroGeorge, Mark Knopfler's The Long Road to Scotland was awesome. The visuals were superb, Irish, and thank you for your comment on Harry.

We're on the right track, because here is Scotland the Brave replete with lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSH0eRKq1lE&NR=1&feature=endscreen

The original lyrics are a wee bit long, so I'll just show part of them.

Hark when the night is falling
Hear! Hear the pipes are calling,
Loudly and proudly calling,
Down thro' the glen.
There where the hills are sleeping,
Now feel the blood a-leaping,
High as the spirits of the old Highland men.

Towering in gallant fame,
Scotland my mountain hame,
High may your proud standards gloriously wave,
Land of my high endeavour,
Land of the shining river,
Land of my heart for ever,
Scotland the brave.

High in the misty Highlands,
Out by the purple islands,
Brave are the hearts that beat
Beneath Scottish skies.
Wild are the winds to meet you,
Staunch are the friends that greet you,
Kind as the love that shines from fair maiden's eyes.

Towering in gallant fame,
Scotland my mountain hame,
High may your proud standards gloriously wave,
Land of my high endeavour,
Land of the shining river,
Land of my heart for ever,
Scotland the brave.

Good afternoon. Not going to comment on all the songs. I liked Harry Chapin and Blondie and Tucco and Mark and the rest. My fave was the Gypsy Violin. My wife told me Dobie Gray died to day.

@edgarblythe,
You sent me searching again, edgar.

Dobie Gray (July 26, 1940 – December 6, 2011) was a black American singer and songwriter, whose musical career spanned soul, country, pop and musical theater. His hit records included "The 'In' Crowd" in 1965, and "Drift Away", which was one of the biggest hits of 1973, sold over one million copies, and remains a staple of radio airplay

I remember Dobie best for "...gimme the beat boys and fill my soul, I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away..." RIP Dobie.

We Had it All was great, Texas, and thanks again for your comments.

Today is Louis Prima's birthday, so here is a story, music, and a tribute to him

Up a Lazy River by Louis was great, edgar. I think sometimes we forget what a great voice Keely had. Here she is with "old blue eyes"

edgar, I had no idea that Keely played in the movie Thunder Road. I do recall him in Bill Murry's Scrooged.

Dear Brit, loved both of those Dobie Gray songs. Mr. Engineer and Let Go were great.

You take care, and sleep well.

Going to say goodnight a bit early with two songs from Robert Mitchum.

First a bird song.

Now, Thunder Road.

So good to see Ireland, Ontario, and London with us today.

From Letty with love

I penned a condensed version of Thunder Road (with Reader's Digest Condensed Books in mind)

Let me tell the story
I can tell it all
About the mountain boy
Who ran illegal alcohol
He left the road at ninety
That's all there is to say
The devil got the moonshine
And the mountain boy that day
Thunder Thunder Road
