edgar, yes, Sometimes Michael was good, but not always.

Don't know that one by Louis and Sam, but found out Sam was a saxophonist. Great, Texas.

wm, Really like ELO's Blue Sky. Don't know Sue Thomas' Paper Tiger but it was good. Thanks for the introduction.

Odd day onWA2K, because today is Catherine Zeta Jones' birthday. Guess who she was married to.

She starred in Scheherzade, and I think most of of understand the 1001 nights idea. She kept telling the king stories until he forgave her and allowed her to live.

I could have played the movie music, but I prefer this one because it is so calming.

Never heard that one by The Rolling Stones, edgar. Miss You is really good. Thanks for your comment.

Well, for once Dr. Hook doesn't sing about Getting his picture on the cover of the Rollin Stones.

@edgarblythe,
Old Spinning wheel in the Parlor? Fantastic, edgar, and thanks again for your comment.Jimmy Wakely had a good voice. My mom loved that song.

Speaking of spin, here another surprise version of That Old Black Magic. What a delight to find Rudolph and Tony Martin.

@edgarblythe,
here is someone i had never heard about : MADAME !

just really crazy !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU_O-3Ys1S0

Quote:
Madame was created by Flowers in the mid-1960s. Flowers's first big break was an appearance on the The Andy Williams Show. The character of Madame is an "outrageous old broad" who entertains with double entendres and witty comebacks. Bedecked in fabulous evening wear and "summer diamonds" ("Some are diamonds; some are not"), Madame's look is based on movie stars such as Gloria Swanson. Madame is rumored to be based on a Washington, DC gay icon, waitress and restaurant hostess Margo MacGregor.[1]

Madame's many TV appearances included Laugh-In; a long run on the game show Hollywood Squares (replacing Paul Lynde in The Center Square); as recurring co-host of Solid Gold; a regular on ABC's short-lived summer replacement show called Keep on Truckin', various TV guest spots; and as the star of her own syndicated 1982 sitcom, Madame's Place.

Flowers and Madame were in the center square on the final NBC episode of Hollywood Squares in June 1980; host Peter Marshall asked Madame the final game question of the daytime series, which was: "Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Strauss lived in the same place. Where did they all live?" Madame's "comic" answer: "At the YMCA!" Then her "serious" answer: Germany. (The correct answer: Austria.)

thanks for the comment on Tony, edgar, and he's still with us.

I used to call that guy Xavier. here are the lyrics to that song.

Brazil, where hearts were entertaining June,
We stood beneath an amber moon
And softly murmured "someday soon."
We kissed and clung together,
Then, tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say;
Now, when twilight dims the sky above
Recalling thrills of our love,
There's one thing I'm certain of
Return I will to old Brazil

I think that song is a congo line dance.

hbg, That was one hilarious video. The song I know, but I never saw or heard of Madame. Thanks for the info.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with an opera selection. First some info on the song.

Aida sometimes spelled Aïda; from Arabic, is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni, based on a scenario written by French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette. Aida was first performed at the Khedivial Opera House in Cairo on 24 December 1871, conducted by Giovanni Bottesini.

Talk about an ethnic mixture.

It was a toss up between Mario or Andrea, and decided on the blind guy.

In English Giuseppe Verdi is Joe Green.

What a wonderful day on WA2K. So nice to have London, Dublin, and Ontario with us.

From Letty with love to all of you the world over.

My pleasure. Smile I'm just afraid I'll eventually post a song you don't like, which is inevitable (considering that we all have own our preferences). Oh, well ...

@eurocelticyankee,
Thank you very much, eurocelticyankee, for reintroducing me to a beautiful piece of classical music -- namely, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini -- I had heard as a very young boy during the 1950s. I hadn't forgotten the music, but didn't know the title of the piece or the name of the composer. Again, thanks. (You never know what you might find online.) Smile

I semi like Charles, re some of his interests. Which is to say I don't just hate him entirely.

But - Cohen and Charles, a video to breathe with.

@Letty,
I've read countless criticisms re Andrea Bocelli and I've nothing to say except that I like him. He helped me move from my long loved house to a rental somewhere in the north. I played his first cd over and over.

I don't care about any imperfections, he is part of my life.
