Don't recall Johnny Kidd. It's right on for a 50s song.

@Letty,
Miss Letty that tribute to James Dean was great and I
have to agree with you about Leonard Cohen, He is
exceptional. I think it's that unique dry voice of his.
I'm not too familiar with Phil Ochs Ed, but I like
that song and his voice.

edgar, thanks for your comments, and I missed your Phil Ochs about James Dean. Fantastic, Texas.

Hey, Irish. Don't know Shane Fenton and his group nor Hey Miss Ruby. That was another era, and it brought a big smile to my rather plain face.

I'm going to tease edgar with this one. It's rare and unique.

Rare Crocodile Spotted by St. Petersburg Florida Woman Shondra Farner who called to report the rare crocodile, and they told her she was wrong. The man said, 'No, ma'am, you have an alligator,' and she said, 'No, I know the difference.' Eventually she convinced the wildlife official that there was indeed a crocodile in her back yard. Can you even imagine looking outside in your gated community and finding such an unusual creature?

Farner said, "That big boy was just about 8 feet from our patio. It's terribly scary looking. And fast. When he turned to leave, I couldn't believe how quick he was." What a shock! Thank goodness nobody was hurt by the giant croc.

Guess what I'm going to play, dear edgar. Razz

@Letty,
letty :
this will surely wake you from your catnap !
a great performance of carl maria von weber's " the huntsmen's choir " by a male russian choir directed by a lady choirleader - she knows to to get the best out of the singers .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwVgu-BnTjs&feature=related

Quote:
Carl Maria Friedrich Ernst von Weber (18–19 November 1786 – 4–5 June 1826) was a German composer, conductor, pianist, guitarist and critic, one of the first significant composers of the Romantic school.

Weber's operas Der Freischütz, Euryanthe and Oberon greatly influenced the development of the Romantic opera in Germany. His compositions for the clarinet, which include two concertos, a concertino, a quintet and a duo concertante, are regularly performed today. His piano music—including four sonatas, two concertos and the Konzertstück (Concert Piece) in F minor—influenced composers such as Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt and Felix Mendelssohn. The Konzertstück provided a new model for the one-movement concerto in several contrasting sections (such as Liszt's, who often played the work), and was acknowledged by Igor Stravinsky as the model for his Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra.

When they used to play See You Later Alligator on the radio, I didn't know there was such a thing as rock n roll. I just thought of that as a cute novelty song.

@hamburgboy,
Fantastic, hbg. Engineering and Physics Institute? You're right. That lady is fabulous getting those scientists to sing. Incidentally, amateur simply means they don't get paid, nothing more.

Here's one to match, Ontario.

edgar, I have no idea when I first heard rock and roll. I think it might have been Sixty minute man. We had no idea that was a naughty song. We just liked to dance to it.

@edgarblythe,
I guessed it was "See You Later Alligator" Miss Letty, whoopee!

Ed I'm not 100% sure but I think "Hey Miss Ruby" might have been
first recorded by the great Conway Twitty.

I remember now. It was by the original Drifters. Same words, except they called it Ruby Baby.

@edgarblythe,
ah, edgar, Love that one by "old blue eyes". My Baby Just Cares for Me rather reminds me of "The Lady is a Tramp." Funny about Bonanza, Texas.

Here is a duo that I have never heard by two famous guys This is the "chairman of the Board" that I like to here, yawl.

I love all phases of Sinatra's music, except near the end, when his powers were weakened.

@edgarblythe,
you know, edgar, that is the saddest and most plaintive song that I have ever heard. Was that really Fess and Buddy?

Well, this one is for my mom who loved these guys.

Across the Alley is one of my favorite songs. I once bought three albums just to have different artists doing it.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for that info, buddy. I searched and learned more. Our friend Santa Toms e Lucas worked at LBJ's radio station. My brother-in -law brought a lot of things from Neiman Marcus.

I'm amazed at K.D. Lang singing in that style. That was a happy song, edgar.

First time that I ever heard her is when we went to see Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I had forgotten that Kevin Spacey was the culprit in that movie.

Another memory.
