wm, Daddy and daughter singing Something stupid was a goodie. His best song for her was Nancy With the Smiling Face.

Hey, euroGeorge. What a pleasure it is to have you acknowledge our music here on WA2K. Yep, K.D. is gay and looks it. No matter, because she is a fantastic vocalist.

I used to think that song by Creedence was about lacanthropy, but it isn't. Love them, Irish.

Here's another by that group.

Thanks, hbg. Your music is different from what I have been hearing these days. It is welcome.
Letty, I know at least three songs titled The Night Has a Thousand Eyes. I like the one you played.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, edgar and all WA2K radio folks.

Don't know Hank Ballard, but liked Let's Go. Do know Lloyd Price, Texas, and both Stagger Lee and I'm Gonna Get Married were wonderful.

Starting today with a member of the Lost Generation whose birthday is today.

First, some info on the man.

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (September 24, 1896 – December 21, 1940) was an American author of novels and short stories, whose works are the paradigm writings of the Jazz Age, a term he coined himself. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Fitzgerald is considered a member of the "Lost Generation" of the 1920s. He finished four novels, This Side of Paradise, The Beautiful and Damned, Tender is the Night and his most famous, The Great Gatsby. A fifth, unfinished novel, The Love of the Last Tycoon was published posthumously. Fitzgerald also wrote many short stories that treat themes of youth and promise along with despair and age.

Novels such as The Great Gatsby and Tender is the Night were made into films, and in 1958 his life from 1937–1940 was dramatized in Beloved Infidel.

Now, the tribute.

What I like about this tribute is the two sides of the philosophy.

and a song from The Great Gatsby.

With β€œThe Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams,” Bob Dylan assembles a group of stars to put unrecorded lyrics of that country giant to music...

Lost Generation - Don't know how much I agree with the author. If our government allows the economy to further collapse, we may all be vying for space beneath bridges.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for your observations and comments. I do hope "the jester" gets all of Hank's songs together in composite fashion.

You're right about the economy, buddy. Not much we can do, I guess.

Don't know Paul's Dance on Little girl, but it was a good one.

I had forgotten that there was a movie about Hank and he was portrayed by George Hamilton. It was called "Your Cheatin' Heart".

Like Cohen, Hank was a poet.

My favorite by him, and the lyrics are so good I can see every line in my imagination.

Some of Hank's songs can make you so sad. But they speak to a part of us that needs a voice, too. One of my favorites by him is about a man, just out of prison, who has lost his wife and son. "My Son Calls Another Man Daddy."

Here is Ry Cooder with another gloomy thought. But told in a lighthearted fashion. Razz

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I don't recall that one by Hank.

That song by Ry Cooder was both hilarious and real. Thanks for the smile underlined by a nodule of truth, Texas.

Well, today is Jim Henson's birthday, so here is a tribute to the man.

A lot of rumors about Jim, but it seems that he had a strep infection instead of AIDS.
