@Letty,
some of the " music while you work " originated from london's albert hall.
so on our first visit to london in 1971 , albert hall was on our list .
the israel philharmonic performed the 1812 overture and other " pieces " for our enjoyment .

we were sitting right across from the organ , so when the organist " imitated " the cannon shots - it just about lifted us out of our seats !!!

here is the halle orchestra doing a fine job :

Kiki Dee - Loving And Free.

Bound, I am bound, like a knot on a string
Eager to be where my life can begin
Out of the shadow and into the sun
So many things that I should have done

I will untangle myself, so that I can see
I will untangle myself, everything will be
Loving and free

Bound I am bound, like a rope on a swing
Up in the air and then down again
Sure for the first time so clear in my mind
Wise to the feeling I gently unwind

I will untangle myself, so that I can see
I will untangle myself, everything will be
Loving and free

Bound I am bound, to remember your smile
Something so special doesn't fade away
Sadness is sweet when you've gone for a while
When I see you there'll be a lot to say

I will untangle myself, so that I can see
I will untangle myself, everything will be
Loving and free...............

Down and gone.
Woosh.

hbg, I love the 1812 overture. Yep, the Russians beat Napoleon by retreating. Too cold for the emperor's army to endure.

Brit, that one by KiKi Dee Loving and Free is beautiful. Goodnight dear friend.

Butterfly's are free, right?

Time for me to say goodnight as well, and I think that I shall do so with Deano.

So nice to see London, Hear Germany, and listen to Ontario.

@Letty,
here is an open-air performance of the 1812 overture .
it is performed annually by the kingston symphony and the gunnery crews of kingston's fort henry .
forward to about 7 minutes to catch the highlights .
it's always a sell-out - no matter what the weather .

I planned to comment on each song, but that was before I realized how much time it would take. I will be back later to listen more and to say good night.

Good morning here, WA2K radio folks.

jcboy, thanks for playing that great song here. Don't know Adele, but Rolling In the Deep was great. Thanks for the introduction.

hbg, Loved both of those versions of 1812 Overture. Always enjoy classical music.

edgar, thanks again for your comments, and Spike always gives me a smile. Even mozart would love it. I really enjoy listening to Glenn, and especially like, "I know Why and So do You."

Hope I didn't miss anyone. If so, I'll blame in on Spike Jones. Razz

Today is "the boss's" birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

@eurocelticyankee,
Welcome back, euroGeorge. Great one by Don Gibson. Yep, sometimes he's right. Who cares anywhere anymore. I do, buddy. Thanks for your comment.

Somehow, I have this German composer on my mind today. Woke up from a catnap with it in my head.

@eurocelticyankee,
Yes, Irish, music does catch us in unexpected moods. Thanks for your comment, and I don't know Johnny Kidd and The Pirates, but Please Don't Touch was quite different. More synchronicity, because last evening on our studio's TV monitor, I watched a brief biography of James Dean. (Don McLean referred to him in American Pie) and just as Johnny, he died in an auto crash as most of us know. Now I know why I like East of Eden the best of his movies. It was written by John Steinbeck and had a heavy meaning.

First, James Dean, then the music behind it.

Now, Leonard.

I have never heard a song by him that I don't like. I think it is because he is different, which accounts for our many musical moods.

Good afternoon. It's a mild dry day here. Good time to contemplate James Dean.

I like the Boss tribute and Otis's Hand Jive.
Also L Cohen's Hallelujah. (Leonard's agent or whoever handles the money, left Cohen nearly impoverished after a lifetime of montary and artistic success. The song Hallelujah was so well covered, he became wealthy again from the one song.)
