@edgarblythe,
i agree , edgar - al martino has the right " timbre " ( i think that's what it's called )

Quote:
TIMBRE : The combination of qualities of a sound that distinguishes it from other sounds of the same pitch and volume

edgar, Your goodnight song, I Want You by "the jester" was great. Didn't know that one by him. Love Spanish Harlem by Trini, buddy.

hbg, I listened to Julio Iglesias version of Spanish Eyes, but I agree that Al Martino's was the best. Noticed that ehBeth met with George S. and his family. I'm envious.

Up early this AM in Florida because I wanted to see and listen to Delta II. All I could hear was the roar of the ocean.

Today is Peter Sellers' birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

I had told edgar that I recalled the book Poor No More and as I searched, I found out that the man who wrote it, did Something of Value about the mau mau uprising in Kenya. The theme of the book involved the idea that when we usurp the cultures and practices of a certain group, we had better replace them with "...something of value..."

@Letty,
Good day Miss Letty and a happy birthday to Peter Sellers.
Sellers who was one of "The Goons" shares his birthday with
another of The Goons, Harry Secombe.

A clip of The Goon Show.

Harry was also a celebrated tenor.

@eurocelticyankee,
euroGeorge, I don't recall the Goon Show, but you sent me searching again.

Sir Harry Donald Secombe CBE (8 September 1921 – 11 April 2001) was a Welsh entertainer with a talent for comedy and a noted fine tenor singing voice. He is best known for playing Neddie Seagoon, the central character in the BBC radio comedy series The Goon Show (1951–60). He also appeared in musicals and, in his later years, was a prominent presenter of television shows incorporating hymns and other devotional songs.

What a fantastic voice, and I loved Abide With Me. The visuals were captivating as well. Thanks for the introduction.

Odd, Irish. I awakened this morning to a religious presentation that made me feel calm just as Sir Harry did.

@eurocelticyankee,
Love Danny Boy by Josef Locke, Irish. Yep, it was just one of those early moments. Smiled at the expression "Heavenly Rock." You have a way with words and epithets.

Here's a new man on the horizon. (to me, at least) His birthday is today. First, some info.

Guitar Shorty (born David William Kearney, September 8, 1939, Houston, Texas, United States) is an American blues guitarist. He is well known for his explosive guitar style and wild stage antics. Billboard magazine said, “his galvanizing guitar work defines modern, top-of-the-line blues-rock. His vocals remain as forceful as ever. Righteous shuffles...blistering, sinuous guitar solos.

Here he does a duet with a guy called Walter Trout.

I did not like everything Peter Sellers did, but some of his films are among my all time favorites.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comments, edgar. The Mansion You Stole by Johnny Horton was one I didn't know. Love that guy.

Shucks. I got up early this morning to see if I would get a bit from this unmanned rocket.

NASA to try again Friday to launch GRAIL moon mission

A Delta II rocket launching twin satellites to the moon will make a second launch attempt Friday after weather scrubbed this morning's try.

Here's another new face on the horizon, yawl. First, some info.

Alecia Beth Moore (born September 8, 1979), better known by her stage name Pink (stylized as P!nk), is an American singer-songwriter and musician. After her short, 3 year career with the contemporary R&B girl group Choice, in 2000 she released her first single "There You Go", from her debut album "Can't Take Me Home". The song gathered commercial success, peaking at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

How about a jungle song. We seem to be living in one right now.

@edgarblythe,
I just played her song because today was her birthday, edgar. Didn't like it much myself.

Ah, Love Canadian Sunset, and here are the lyrics to go with it.

Once I was alone
So lonely and then
You came, out of nowhere
Like the sun up from the hills

Cold, cold was the wind
Warm, warm were your lips
Out there, on that ski trail
Where your kiss filled me with thrills

A weekend in Canada, a change of scene
Was the most I bargained for
And then I discovered you and in your eyes
I found the love that I couldn't ignore

Down, down came the sun
Fast, fast, fast, beat my heart
I knew when the sun set
From that day, we'd never ever part

To go with your mansion, how about this one by a great duo.

I like Eddy Arnold's version better, but couldn't find it.

Well, I guess I chased edgar off. Come back, Texas.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with Dame Shirley. I think most of us know that this is from West Side Story based on Romeo and Juliet.

Nice to have Canada and Dublin with us today.

From Letty with love hoping tomorrow will be a better day.

Warning: country song
Here is Buck Owens singing about the man that stole away his wife. I think it was Merle Haggard, but I don't want to look it up to make certain.
