I always had a gripe about that Batman film. To me, the Joker got all the good parts. Michael didn't get to do all that he might have done.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment on Michael Keaton, edgar. Loved that stride piano by Big Joe Turner, buddy, and Cloud Fifteen was great. I had to check out Janis Ian. Don't recall her, but At Seventeen was a good one.

What a surprise to find out that Big Joe Turner did Shake, Rattle, and Roll.

Here's another by the big guy.

Joe Turner had a long and varied career. I am a bit surprised that he rarely gets a mention, these days. I did not get to listen to him much while growing up, but, during the sixties I tried to make up for it. The Hi-Yo Silver part of that last song was widely copied, back when.

When this next song was new, I automatically changed the radio station. But, my current radio is cantankerous and so I leave the station alone. They play this one a few times a week and now I listen to it without cringing.

@edgarblythe,
Your mention of Roxanne by Sting and the Police reminded me of this eternal triangle, edgar.

I have no idea why I know Big Joe Turner, Texas.

If I were in the business of filming Cyrano, I would pick a lead actor that had not seen the Jose Ferrer version. And it would appear that these people had the same notion. I would watch this one, on a DVD.

A musical feast, great art expo's and poetry too.
We even stayed in tents Smile , it was like the good ol' rave days.

edgar, Dear Rosemary Clooney. I know Hey There by her. Homer and Jethro did a parody on that song.

Speaking of Chain Gangs, George was a member of that gang in O Brother Where Art Thou.

I agree about the original Cyrano with Jose Ferrer, and what a surprise to find out that Rosemary was married to him.

Also thought that the original Moulin Rouge was better than the remake. Back later with some excerpts from both movies.

euroGeorge. Welcome back. So glad that you had fun at The Electric Picnic and Arcade Fire.

@edgarblythe,
Ray Stevens doing Misty was hilarious, edgar.

In the original Moulin Rouge, Zsa Zsa Gabor did Where is your heart and Jose Ferrer did Toulose Letrec.

George Clooney was great lip syncing Man of Constant Sorrow.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs. First, one by a birthday boy.

watch out for the jelly fish.

Now, a lovely song by George Benson as an instrumental followed by the lyrics.

This Masquerade - George Benson

Are we really happy here
With this lonely game we play
Looking for words to say?
Searching
But not finding understanding anyway
We're lost in a mas--masquerade

Both afraid to say
We're just too far away
From being close together from the start
We tried to talk it over
But the words got in the way
We're lost inside this lonely game we play

Thoughts of leaving disappear
Ev'ry time I see your eyes
No matter how hard I try
To understand the reasons
That we carry on this way
We're lost in this masquerade

So nice to have England and Ireland with us today.

From Letty with love on this Labor Day.

I like Loudon Wainright, letty. Didn't know that particular song. Benson's Masquerade is to me his best record.

@edgarblythe,
Up early this morning, edgar, and thanks again for your comment.

Neil's Play Me was fantastic. Never heard that one by him.

Somehow, I woke up with this song running through my head.
