@Letty,
Johnny McEvoy is very good, euro.
Shifting Whispering Sands I used to listen to with my mother, as a kid.
Bonaparte was a fascinating person. I read some books about him years back.

@edgarblythe,
Two good songs Ed, I like Stonewall.
Yes indeed Napoleon was a fascinating person, even in death!.
It's said his wallpaper killed him or at least contributed to his death, strange.
Well Miss Letty seeing as it's his birthday, I'll just have to play .......

and Abba were born.

The British wanted Napoleon dead, but failed to kill him.
Yet the wallpaper in his house of exile that contained arsenic
was produced where?, Britain, how ironic.
They got him anyway, if it's true.

I recall many years ago, a news item, in which arsenic was diagnosed in a lock of Nappy's hair. I suppose the wallpaper could have been involved.
Never heard Abba's Waterloo before.

Got a war chant

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Waterloo by ABBA either, euro. Love that palindromic name. Odd, so is "able was I ere I saw Elba."

My word, edgar, that Hawaiian War Chant by Spike Jones is hilarious. Wonder if he was ever serious about anything. Hope not. Razz

Did find this bit about Napoleon.

The wallpaper used in Longwood contained a high level of arsenic compound used for colouring by British manufacturers. The adhesive, which in the cooler British environment was innocuous, may have grown mould in the more humid climate and emitted the poisonous gas arsine. This theory has been ruled out as it does not explain the arsenic absorption patterns found in other analyses.

There have been modern studies which have supported the original autopsy finding. Researchers, in a 2008 study, analysed samples of Napoleon's hair from throughout his life, and from his family and other contemporaries. All samples had high levels of arsenic, approximately 100 times higher than the current average. According to these researchers, Napoleon's body was already heavily contaminated with arsenic as a boy, and the high arsenic concentration in his hair was not caused by intentional poisoning; people were constantly exposed to arsenic from glues and dyes throughout their lives. 2007 and 2008 studies dismissed evidence of arsenic poisoning, and confirmed evidence of peptic ulcer and gastric cancer as the cause of death.

One more about the emperor and then we'll allow him to rest.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. For Your Precious Love by Jerry Butler was great as were the wolf visuals.

So many songs that we have played here are by George Gershwin, so I'm saying goodnight with a medley. Wonder if our listeners know the songs? I do!

edgar, thanks again for your comments. Love Cool Water, buddy. Yep, it's the fata morgana song. I had forgotten that The Call of the Faraway Hills was from Shane. Hurry back, Texas.

Morning, Barry and Taggers.

Love King of the Road by Roger; also Jane's answer Queen of the House. Ah, dear Freddie Mercury. You are so right. What a powerful voice and what a great performer.

Well, McTag. Different people remember certain things, and then there are those who forget. You and I recall Fernando, right?

How about Along Came Jones by The coasters.

Good morning. Good to know I am not the only one who likes Jane Morgan. Roger's King of the Road is a favorite of mine, as are the songs by Elvis and the Coasters. Freddy has some songs I enjoy greatly.

@Letty,
Here's one of them "Where were you when" moments.I was working that night,DJ'ing in a local Pub.Had them up on their feet dancing all night.What a buzz.Loaded the gear in the van and Ron drove me home.I was still buzzing so cracked open a beer,turned on the radio (Capital Radio 194) and sat down to chill out before climbing the apples.Heard 3 Elvis tunes in a row.Hmmmm,that's strange! Then the DJ announced that The King had died.My jaw hit the floor.Was never a great fan of his but I sure did appreciate his music.Sat there listening to him playing Elvis songs for about 2 hours before the eyelids started to drop.
Was fortunate enough to visit Graceland a few years later....

Paul Simon - Graceland.

Gotta climb them apples.
Laters WA2K.
