I respect Jackson Brown on several levels. Dr My Eyes is the song that made me first notice him.

@edgarblythe,
I'm with you on that one, edgar.

Never heard I Don't Need No Doctor by Ray. Here's my favorite one by the soul man.

Yerp. Ray had so many great songs. I consider some of his recordings as among the best ever made.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Don Cornell, edgar. He has a great voice, however. Hold My Hand reminded me of Kismet.

@Letty,
Hi all, I think I'll "treat" Wink you all to a wee Scottish triple play.

First up, Edwyn Collins 'A Girl Like You'.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkKxGzm98AU

Next, the Proclaimers/500 miles.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM0sTNtWDiI

Last one, Strawberry Switchblade -- Since Yesterday.

Three favourites of mine, no accounting for taste eh? Razz
Man did I have a crush on Rose McDowall Embarrassed, back in the day.

Hey, euroGeorge, Welcome back. Wow! A Girl Like You was great. Don't know Edwin Collins but he has a wonderful voice.

The Proclaimers wouldn't work, Irish.

Strawberry Switchblade was good, and the song Since Yesterday was fabulous. No wonder you had a crush on Rosie. Razz

edgar, I do know Band of Gold by Don Cherry. Thanks for the memory and the comment on dear Matt.

Inspired by Rockhead's Random Thoughts, and thanks to JPB, here is a wonderful classical by Beethoven.

Love the acoustic guitar version

ah, Beethoven's Moonlight put edgar to sleep. George is all doubled up in bed, but I know our Brit's out there somewhere cause I can hear him taking photos.

Saying goodnight with two songs. First one that was inspired by Shearing.

Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K folks.The camera is on charge Ms Producer as I welcomed an old friend who flew in from New York yesterday morning.This time last year we were both in India.Pictures will be posted elsewhere.
I loved George's Mack The Knife,taken from his Grand Piano LP/CD.
The tribute to Sir Alfred was great.Too bad he missed the bus in the last few frames Smile .The music behind the vid was Mike Oldfield's tubular Bells,used in the scarey movie The Exorcist.
Ed,Ray's I Don't Need No Doctor was written by these folks....
Nickolas Ashford (born May 4, 1942, in Fairfield County, South Carolina) and Valerie Simpson (born August 26, 1946 in The Bronx, New York) are a husband and wife songwriting/production team and recording artists. They met at Harlem's White Rock Baptist Church in 1963. After having recorded unsuccessfully as a duo, they joined aspiring solo artist and former member of the Ikettes, Josie Jo Armstead, at the Scepter/Wand label where their compositions were recorded by Ronnie Milsap ("Never Had It So Good"), Maxine Brown ("One Step At A Time"), as well as the Shirelles and Chuck Jackson. Another of the trio's songs "Let's Go Get Stoned" gave Ray Charles a number one U.S. R&B hit in 1966. That same year Ashford & Simpson joined Motown where their best-known songs included "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "You're All I Need To Get By", "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", and "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)". As performers, Ashford and Simpson's best-known song is "Solid" (1984 US and 1985 UK). The duo was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

Edgar, Loved your goodnight song. Yep, that cockney My Fair Lady song was great. Also appreciate your comments.

Well, well. There's our Brit with great news. Thanks for the info and we await your photo's from St. Elsewhere Razz Just as euroGeorge, your song wouldn't play here, but I found an American version and it was fantastic. Ashford and Simpson's Solid was truly good. Thanks for your comments, too.

The reason that Blatty wrote The Ninth Configuration was because he wanted to soften the effect of The Exorcist. Read the book and saw the movie.

The kid from Orlando is here, but sleeping, so I thought I do two songs for the early morning.

First, Tony Martin who is still with us. Good song for Sunday.

Morning, WA2K folks.

Hey, Irish, Thanks for Natalie's Miss You Like Crazy. Love it when she and her dad sang Unforgettable. Thanks for your comments.

edgar, you always comment on what we play here. I don't know that Gene Pitney song, but I like it.

Anyone remember St. Elsewhere? First time I ever saw Denzel Washington.

Now, a birthday guy. First, some info.

In addition to his solo career, he was a founding member of three bands: The Byrds, Crosby, Stills & Nash (who are sometimes augmented by Neil Young), and CPR. Crosby is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work in The Byrds and CSN.
