Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, Loved your goodnight song by Jerry. He sounded like Al. Dear Jerry is no longer heading the MS telethon.

Don't know Gavin DeGraw, but I hate it when anyone is attacked.

Welcome back, Brit. We are so glad that you and the Fredster are alright.

The Pogues' Dirty Old Town was great and explicit. Loved the three versions of For All We Know, buddy.

Today is Whitney Houston's birthday, so here is a tribute to the lady.

I have likely told this story before about San Antonio Rose song. I once sang a few bars of it in the presence of my room mate. Not long after, he sang it also, slowing down, emphasizing, "lies a memory -" He was correcting me for singing it "lies a melody." We argued about it a bit. Odd thing about it, I had grown up hearing it his way, until one day when it played and I suddenly heard the lyrics plainly. Anyway, great song.

Laverne Baker had a huge hit with this song, but may have disliked it. She tried to avoid singing it when she did a concert in our town. Only did so when the crowd insisted.

@edgarblythe,
Laverne Baker brought back some memories, edgar. Does it really matter whether it was melody or memory? Nope, don't remember your having told me that.

Strange, I don't recall Laverne having done Jim Dandy to the Rescue. Need to check that out as well.

Well, here's Lady Day's response to the rescue song.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, Texas. Don't know A Poor Man's Roses by Patti. Here's the first one that I heard her sing, and I think she may have been the first to record her voice so that she sang with herself.

@eurocelticyankee,
euroGeorge, Welcome back. I cannot believe how breathtaking those stained glass illustrations of Harry Clarke affected us all. My coffee table book is Edgar A. Poe and it was published in 1984. When I was a wee thing, my aunt had a book that was illustrated with odd art by Poe that seemed to me to be a series of dots that were connected to form the picture that went with the story and poetry.

I will keep looking at all of his work. He did so many great poets and stories. Thank you so much, Irish.

My goodnight song will be an Irish one based on an old Irish song Blow Out the candle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rErrOegU9iY

Goodnight to all of you everywhere.

From Letty with love to Ireland and England
