@Barry The Mod,

"In a one-seat canoe, you're the skipper and crew"

That's an example of why I love pop music.

I see Lewis Hamilton (motor racing driver, British) said the National Anthem was too short. He said he would like to stand on the winner's podium for longer. Accordingly, there was a suggested extra verse in The Guardian recently:

"So, Lewis Hamilton
When the Grand Prix you win
Sing this aloud
Spraying your Moët from
Some sort of podium
On to the lower one
Makes your mum proud."

Mc T,I agree with the petulant and often annoying Mr Hamilton. How often have we had to stand while the Italian anthem plays on and on and on?! Time for change me-thinks.How about Jerusalem or,even better,Land Of Hope And Glory.
Gonna watch a movie before I climb the apples so I'm pulling the plug after blowing the dust off of this....

Linx - Intuition.

As a boy my family thought that I'd be their ruin
But when I was back my mum knew what I was doing

While I try my best not to leave any clues,
she always find out and she say that she use

Intuition
Intuition

I play on after dark and they would come get me
I try to get the babies here and they would not let me

When I stole all the apples that our neighbour grew,
So one must have told 'cause she knew

Intuition
Intuition

So many things I miss
The situations you just not admit
I don't mean to her sit
But I know what must be,
all the play for this

Intuition
Intuition

Though I always try hard not to leave any clues,
I'm always found out, wish I knew how to use

Intuition
Intuition
Intuition
Intuition

Laters WA2K.

Hey, Leonard, "We are not amused". Great goodnight song, edgar, and it did make me smile.

Welcome back, Brit and McTag. No absolutely nothing about the Grand Prix, but God Save the Queen in four minutes was humorous. (the British spelling)

Dusty and Des did a great job with that River song. You hurry back as well. Intuition by Linx was perfect. Unfortunately, I possess too much of it.

A birthday boy, yawl.

I like Peter O'Toole, possibly the man more so than most roles he plays.

@Letty,
Surprise, letty. I never heard of Jeremy before now. But he's not bad.
Here is a country star I hated to listen to when very young, but I love him these days.

@edgarblythe,
Funny, edgar, I'm the same as you. Never liked what we called hill billy music when I was young. As we have discussed, we all change our attitudes as we learn to listen.

Love White Lightning by George, and here is another great duo.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. I've been doing some research on The Moonshine Wars, but nothing much to be found. I do know that if the stuff was made in a lead kettle, it would cause blindness.

Love that Copper Kettle by Gordon Lightfoot. That guy is fantastic.

Here he is again.

@edgarblythe,
I remember that song, edgar. Not exactly the lyrics that I recall, but Jerry Lee was funny doing that one.

Here's Harry drinking rum and coca cola.

Time for me to say good night, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

@Letty,
Letty, I once had that record album. Lost it, but I have the same songs on a CD. The songs on one side are by The Islanders. Belafonte is on the other side. Rum and Coke was actually by the Islanders. Here is Harry on one he has partial credit for writing

Both songs by Joni James and the Carpenters are really good ones. Joni gets overlooked a lot, but I like her.

Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K folks. The weatherman says it may hit around 90 today (that's HOT for London town). Here's an old fave of mine, telling a story that we've all heard before....

Bruce Hornsby - The Valley Road.

Sometimes I lead,sometimes I follow
This time I'll go where she wants me to go
She said maybe today maybe tomorrow
Go deep in the woods down the low valley road

While no one was looking on the old plantation
He took her all the way down the long valley road
They sent her away not too much later
And left him walking down the old valley road
Walk on, walk on alone
Walk on, walk on, walk on walk on alone

Out in the hall they were talking in a whisper
Everybody noticed she was gone awhile
Somebody said she's gone to her sister's
But everybody knew what they were talking about

While no one was looking on the old plantation
He showed her what they do down the long valley road
She came back around like nothing really happened
And left him standing on the old valley road
Walk on, walk on,walk on alone
Walk on, walk on, on the valley road

Standing like a stone on the old plantation
The rich old man would have never let him in
Good enough to hire, not good enough to marry
When it all happens nobody wins
Walk on, walk on,walk on alone
Walk on, walk on, walk on,walk on and on alone

Dave Edmunds - Promised Land.

I left my home in Norfolk Virginia
California on my mind
I straddled that Greyhound
And rode on into Raleigh
And on across Caroline

We had motor trouble that turned into a struggle
Halfway across Alabam'
Well that hound broke down and left us all stranded
In downtown Birmingham

So right away I brought me a through train ticket
Ridin' across Mississippi clean
And I was on that midnight flyer out of Birmingham
Smoking into New Orleans

Sure as your born they bought me a silk suit
Put luggage in my hand
And I woke up high over Albuquerque
On a jet to the promised land

Somebody help me get out of Louisiana
Just to help me get to Houston Town
There are some folks there who care a little about me
And they won't let the poor boy down

Working on a T-bone steak a la carte
Flying over to the golden state
Ah when the pilot told us in thirteen minutes
He would set us at the terminal gate

Swing low chariot come down easy
Taxi to the terminal zone
Cut your engines and cool your wings
And let me make it to the telephone

Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia
Tidewater four ten o nine
Tell the folks back home this is the promised land calling
And the poor boy is on the line

Working on a T-bone steak a la carte
Flying over to the golden state
Ah when the pilot told us in thirteen minutes
He would set us at the terminal gate

Swing low chariot come down easy
Taxi to the terminal zone
Cut your engines and cool your wings
And let me make it to the telephone

Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia
Tidewater four ten o nine
Tell the folks back home this is the promised land calling
And the poor boy is on the line
