That's the song that made me aware of Hank. Always thought he was pretty good.

Here is a guy I once thought would make a brief appearance on the walk of fame and vanish. But, he showed I was wrong.

@edgarblythe,
Love the Seventh Son song by Johnny Rivers, edgar, but you sent me searching again.

Johnny Rivers (born John Henry Ramistella, November 7, 1942, New York City) is an American rock and roll singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. His styles include folk songs, blues, and revivals of old-time rock 'n' roll songs and some original material. Rivers's greatest success came in the mid and late 1960s with a string of hit songs (including "Seventh Son", "Poor Side of Town", "Summer Rain", and "Secret Agent Man"), but he has continued to record and perform to the present.

Another river with a man I do like regardless of his raspy voice.

I like Joe as a person. I also like some of his songs, depending which ones they are. He does a nice job with Many Rivers.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Seven Sirens and a Silver Tear by Sirenia was strange. It was captivating, however.

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, David Bowie.

Now Jan Peerce with Schubert's Serenade.

Glad to see London with us "in the wee small hours of the morning"

Also, Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Dutchy and congratulations to our edgar's daughter

From Letty with love to all.

I often forget about Jan Peerce, until somebody brings him up, but his recordings are always pretty great. Thanks for the David Bowie Starman.

Chake Khan - Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most.

Once I was a sentimental thing
Throw my heart away each spring
Now a spring romance
Hasn't got a chance
Promised my first dance to winter
All I've got to show's a splinter
For my little fling

Spring, this year has got me feeling like a horse
That never left the post
I lay in my room
Starring up at the ceiling
Spring can really hang you up the most

Morning's kiss wakes trees and flower
And to them my life
To drink a toast I walk in the park
Just to kill those lonely hours
Spring can really hang you up the most

All afternoon
Those birds tweet-a-tweet I know their tune
This is love this is it
Heard it before
And I know the score
And I decide that love is a bore
Love seem sure around the new year
Now it's April

Love is just a ghost
Spring arrived on time
But what became of you, dear
Spring can really hang you up the most
Spring can really hang you up the most

Spring is here
There's no mistaken
Robins build their nest from coast to coast
My heart tries the same
So they wont hear it breaking
Spring can really hang you up the most

College boys are riding somewhere
... tender passion there it grows
But I'm on the shelf with last years easter bonnet
Spring can really hang you up the most

Love came my way
I'm holding the last
We had our day
Now that's all in the past
Spring came along
A season of song
For Love's sweet promise
But something went wrong
Doctor's once prescribed a tonic
Sulfur and molasses was the dose
Didn't help me a bit
My condition must be chronic
Spring can really hang you up the most

All alone, the party's over
Winter was a gracious host
But when you keep praying
For snow to hide the clover
Spring can really hang you up the most

Funny, edgar, Johnny don't look nor sound Italian. Razz Come in Stranger was great, and Leo Sayer's When I Need You a favorite of mine. Hurry Back.

Hey, Brit. Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most is truly a great jazz song. The lyrics are a bit dated, but the chord changes are fantastic. Chaka Khan is o.k., but there are better versions.

Don't know "the squeeze box" lady, but Sharon Shannon did a wonderful job with The Burst Mattress. Thanks for the introduction, London.

Ah, Dame Shirley. Had no idea that she did Don't Cry Out Loud, but it was truly done ala her style. You hurry back as well.

Today is Robert Cray's birthday. Don't know the man, but he is good. Let's listen to one of his blues specials.

My favorite version of that spring song was by June Christy.

@edgarblythe,
Hot, hot, hot, edgar. No, not Ricky but I do love him and his song Honey Open That Door.

Timi Euro's Interlude was fantastic. I recall having heard her before and thought that she was a guy. Love anything having to do with water and falls.

Today is Jerry Garcia's birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, That song, The Ark, by Gerry Rafferty was truly wonderful. Just as Jerry, gone too soon.

The Ark reminded me that Noah sent a dove to locate dry land.

Here is a beautiful version of La Paloma, and the English translation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBHkn8_ApJw

My dear, la paloma sings in the tree above;
He sings with his sweetheart softly their songs of love;
Canta, la paloma sing us the serenade.
Canta, en la noche sweetly your serenade.

Fiesta is here, we smile and guitars are playing;
Breezes are blowing, as we are gently swaying.

La paloma, the dove,
La paloma sings on this summer night;
He coos, oh, so gently,
He coos so gently, under the stars so bright!
(Interlude)
Fiesta is here, senoritas and hombres dancing;
Guitars softly playing, making the night entrancing;
Our hearts fill with love, we wish this could last forever;
This magical time that brings all our hearts together.
La paloma, the dove, la paloma sings in the tree above.
He sings with his sweetheart softly their songs of love.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment on the dove, edgar. Joan Baez is always and I mean ALWAYS great. North was marvelous and I listened twice.

Here's an odd tribute to Herman Melville. The simple theme to Moby Dick is "vengeance is a terrible recompense. Ahab was willing to sacrifice the lives of innocent men, to achieve it."

Joan has a better version of North, but I could not find it on youtube.
Melville will be remembered longer than many famous American writers, I think.

Hey, Mighty Diamonds. I didn't remember Morgan the Pirate. Had to find him via my search machine.

edgar, a great song by those diamond guys. Love that kind of music. Thanks again for your comments.

Going to say goodnight a little early. How about a tour of Venice to the music of Andrea Bocelli. We'll dedicate this to our Eva.
