Jimmy Cliff - You Can Get It If You Really Want.

You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try, you'll succeed at last

Persecution you must bear
Win or lose you've got to get your share
Got your mind set on a dream
You can get it, though harder them seem now

You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try, you'll succeed at last
I know it, listen

Rome was not built in a day
Opposition will come your way
But the hotter the battle you see
It's the sweeter the victory, now

You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try, you'll succeed at last

You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try, you'll succeed at last

You can get it if you really want - I know it
You can get it if you really want - though I show it
You can get it if you really want
- so don't give up now

Good morning WA2K. It's Friday here. What happened to Thursday?

Hey, Brit. Loved Darius Rucker's This, and Jimmy Cliff's You Can Get It is great. Reminds me of "..nice work if you can get it; and you can get it if you try..".

Also liked Donovan's Bert's Blues, Texas.

Thinking of Johnny Mercer Today, and I love this one by the guy.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment, edgar. Love that version of I'll Close My Eyes on the ukulele and bass.

I remember the lyrics, because they came from The Bridges of Madison County.

I'll close my eyes
To everyone but you
And when I do
I'll see you standing there

I'll lock my heart
To any other caress
I'll never say yes
To a new love affair

I'll close my eyes
To everything that's gay
If you are not there
Oh, to share each lovely day

And through the years
In those moments
When we're apart
I'll close my eyes
And I'll see you with my heart

Another personality song.

I have long been a fan of Lloyd Price. I once had a collection of his single records, but they got away, somewhere, somehow -

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Just found out the Josh Pyke is Australian, edgar. Loved Beg Your Pardon by the guy. For a moment there, I thought that you were going to do "...I never promised you a rose garden..." Razz

Last night on TCM, they showed The Drums of Africa. It was great and Frankie Avalon had a leading role. I wish I could have found the ending of the trailer, because it was the best part. So, I went searching and found this.

@edgarblythe,
Wow, edgar. I had no idea that Harry had folk singers at one time. Love that Red Rosy Bush by them.

For some reason, Darius Rucker's This reminded me of the following experiment.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boK5XMOLkWw&feature=related

It doesn't take long for the effects of the potion to wear off, and the four guests find that they are old again. Dr. Heidegger does not regret the spilled elixir; he has learned his lesson by watching his guests, and would not drink the water for anything. The guests, however, have learned nothing, and vow to travel to Florida, find the fountain of youth, and drink from it day and night.

In other words, if we would have a second chance at reliving our lives, we'd still make the same mistakes.

The only way we could change our lives by reliving them would be if in the reliving we had knowledge not available to us during the prior times. Having such knowledge, we could change some major events, but our personalities would likely keep us from changing as many things as we maybe wish to change. So it is speculated. So it shall be.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by "the jester", edgar, and I agree with you about reliving our lives. Forever Young reminds me of satt fs and The Child Inside song.

Today is Don Henley's birthday. He was the one who started The Eagles.

The Boys of Summer seems appropriate.

Roger Taylor and Brian May - Dear Mr Murdoch.

Dear Mr. Murdoch, what have you done
With your news of the screws and your soar-away Sun?
You sharpen our hatred
You've blunted our minds
We're drowning in nipples and bingo and sex crimes
How many time must they poke and they pry
Must they twist and lie?
Just to add to the grime they even screwed up the Times
Love to kick their arse goodbye oh wouldn't i!

Dear Mr. Murdoch you play hard to see
But with your bare-arsed cheek you should be on page three
And dear Mr. Murdoch you're really the pits
Bad news is good business, you're the king of the tits

They stain all they touch, they're real woman haters
But we're on their trail
They go straight for the lowest common denominators
How could they fail? go straight to jail - (no bail)!

Dear Mr. Murdoch you're a powerful man
You control half our media whose life blood is scanned
And dear Mr. Murdoch we're not so amused
Just line up the people whose lives they've abused

And dear Mr. Murdoch you come down from on high
You even bought up the air waves, you control all our Sky

Dear Mr. Murdoch where are you coming from?
Getting so hard to tell if you're a yank, oz or pom

Dear Mr. Murdoch you're really the pits
Bad news is good business, you're the king of the tits

Goodnight, edgar. I know The Band best for The Weight. Thanks for your comment.

Hey Brit. I never see the word Murdoch that I don't think of my Persian cat named Murdoch.(Bud was always giving our animals crazy names)

More concerned about dust mites than bed bugs.

Love If You were a carpenter and I was a lady. Always reminds me of this painting. Joseph the Carpenter and Jesus.
