@edgarblythe,
Hope this wakes you up, edgar.

Didn't know It Takes a Train to Cry by "the jester". Great one. Another "train/trane"

Equipment in my wee studio has been acting up.

UhOh! I think one of those trains just ran over our edgar.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First Mario from The Student Prince.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcdkJeTBxaQ

Now, The fabulous Danny Kaye.

Perhaps we can coax London and Kansas to come back with us.

From Letty with love to the worlds

Good morning, all. edgar, The Tale of Old Shorty I don't know. I'm always getting Tex Ritter and Gene Autry mixed up. Hurry back, because I noticed on your Think forum that you talked about Melville. Read every one of his books with I was eleven years old. Got really angry when I read Omoo first thinking it was about cannibals and later discovered it was Typee. Billy Budd he never finished, but I think it was an allegory of Christ.

Moby Dick I think everyone has read.

Welcome back, Brit. I played that song on edgar's Songs That Tell Stories. Setanta played it as well. Edgar Cayce thought that we were descended from Atlanteans. No sonic boom here as yet. Still love Donovan.

I remember Cat best for Morning Has Broken, but since it's his birthday, here is a tribute to him.

Love Paul Anka's It's a sin. Strange, when I look back upon my life, I find a few missing links. Razz

From Art Garfunkel's Across America CD....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRlPQHjWyTY
Art Garfunkel - A Heart In New York ( written by Brits ;-) )

New York, to that tall skyline I come, flyin' in from London to your door
New York, lookin' down on Central Park
Where they say you should not wander after dark

New York, like a scene from all those movies
But you're real enough to me, but there's a heart
A heart that lives in New York

A heart in New York, a rose on the street
I write my song to that city heartbeat
A heart in New York, a love in her eye, an open door and a friend for the night

New York, you got money on your mind
And my words won't make a dime's worth a difference, so here's to you New York

New York, now my plane is touching down.

@Barry The Mod,
Great New York song by Art, Brit. You sent me searching again.

Benny Gallagher: began his songwriting career as a staff writer with the Beatles Music Publishing Co.- Apple - writing songs for his lifelong friend and Apple Records biggest solo recording artist Mary Hopkin - Benny has always considered those “formative” days at Apple, and, especially, the constant encouragement of Paul McCartney, as one of the most important factors in his development as a songwriter.He was paired with Graham Lyle and together they did A Heart in New York.

How about an "old blue eyes" version.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, edgar, love Mexican music. That one you played was quite familiar, and Teresa's Mutual Admiration Society brought back some memories. Thanks and once again we appreciate your comments.

Here's one of my favorite songs ala Mexican.

@edgarblythe,
Great song by Brenda Lee, edgar, and I just noticed that it was written by a Greek. Amazing. Yep, Mexican music can be lively at times.

Here's a wonderful show that has been inspired by our Ursula. I recall having taught the horror of the its devastation is WWII. Sherman said it right. War is Hell.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, once again you sent me searching.

Raymond Douglas "Ray" Davies, CBE (born 21 June 1944, Fortis Green, London) is an English rock musician, best known as lead singer and songwriter for The Kinks, which he led with his younger brother, Dave. He has also acted, directed and produced shows for theatre and television.

Since the dissolution of The Kinks in 1996, Ray Davies has embarked on a solo career as a singer-songwriter.

80 Days was fantastic. Thanks for the introduction and the comment, Texas.

Today is Robin Williams' birthday, so here is a tribute to the man.

I think my favorite was The Bird Cage.

@edgarblythe,
Would you believe that I thought that you meant Buddy? Razz Great song, buddy.

Well, Texas, you sent me searching again.

The Hollies are an English pop and rock group, formed in Manchester in the early 1960s, though most of the band members are from throughout East Lancashire. Known for their distinctive vocal harmony style, they became one of the leading British groups of the 1960s and 1970s. They enjoyed considerable popularity in many countries, although they did not achieve major US chart success until 1966. Along with The Rolling Stones and The Searchers, they are one of the few British pop groups of the early 1960s that have never officially broken up and that continue to record and perform. The Hollies were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Speaking of which, here is one by the Searchers for which I searched.

Thinking of FDR's four freedoms tonight.

1. Freedom of speech and expression
2. Freedom of worship
3. Freedom from want
4. Freedom from fear

So, here's Michael Buble to sing a song of the depression.
