@edgarblythe,
Walk Away Rene was great. I know that song but had no idea who did it. Thanks for the memory jog, edgar, and The Left Banke folks.

I never think of ballerina that I don't think of Nat.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I appreciate your comment on Nat, and I, too, knew that Vaughn Monroe had done it.

Don't know Ruby Red by The Kingston Trio. Good one, Texas.

I recall Ruby don't Take Your Love to Town by (I think) Kenny Rodgers.

Amazing. I had no idea that Frankie Laine did Stars Fell on Alabama. I recall WilliamHenryIII (I think that was his screen name) saying that should be Alabama's state song. B.J. Cobalt introduced me to him.

Today is E.B. White's birthday so here is a melody that fits Charlotte's Web.

I bet Charlotte's Web did more to help kids overcome fear of harmless spiders than anything else you could name.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for the comment, edgar. The trouble with me is that I don't know harmless from harmful.

Eddie Cantor. What a great singer. I know My Little Margie. Thanks for the memory.

My goodnight song is by Mario, and I think you may have introduced me to this one.

For those who are gone, we will always remember you.

@edgarblythe,
Well, Texas, you're down and I'm up. Razz Love Joan, of course, and Boots of Spanish Leather was great. Thanks once more for your comment.

Still dark here, radio folks, but I awakened with the song in my head.

Thought of Black Narcissus, now it's Black Orpheus.

Aha! Now I know why I remember Cole Porter. He did Making Whoopee

Late good morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K peeps.Got snowed under with stuff to do.So....enjoyed the tribute to Mr B.I liked him in The Ten Commandments (1956),The King and I (also 1956),the outstanding The Magnificent Seven (1960) and the strange Westworld (1973).Smoked himself to death.Silly sod!
And any Freddie tribute gets a ten out of ten from me.
My favorite Walk Away Renee,unsurprisingly,comes from the Motown stable....

Good morning. I am often in the minority when it comes to discussing films. I don't mind others having different perspective. We don't want to be Twinkies, I figure. Well I will be back later in the afternoon. See you all then.

Harper Simon -Berkeley Girl.

She is juniper and roses

She is amethyst and pearl

And though she makes her home in Hollywood

She's really just a Berkeley girl

She's the breeze on Sunday morning

Blowing down a country lane

She's got the style of Paulette Goddard

And the smile of Joan Fontaine

And she drives a Karmann Ghia

Through the streets of Silver Lake

And the hills of Echo Park

She is crinoline and satin

She is leopard skin and lace

Hard to believe that she believed in me

When I was such a hopeless case

And she knows from love and service

Yes she knows from peace of mind

To be not sinister in purpose

And to never be unkind

And she loves a Tulsi garden

And she loves her rock 'n roll

And she's never far from my mind

She is juniper and roses

Guess I'll sing it once again

And though we are no longer lovers

I know she'll always be my friend

So if you're ever ride beside her

Drivin' down the 101

Be thankful that you're with a Berkeley girl

Who's beautiful beneath the moon and the sun

@edgarblythe,
In the minority? I don't think so, Texas. If we didn't have differing opinions, life would be rather dull.

Hurry Back. Want to know how you liked Black Orpheus.

Hey, Brit. Love that version of Walk Away Renee, and speaking of "tops"

Here's one by Nat and Ella. (more Cole Porter)

Oops, missed your last two songs, Brit. Back later to acknowledge.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar. I was looking at your "I Think" discussion and found that I had seen the movie Of Human Bondage. My favorite by Somerset Maugham is The Luncheon. Funny, funny, funny.

I don't know Take Good Care of Her by Adam Wade, but that guy has a great voice.

Well, we heard Sixteen Tons, but how about sixteen pounds. This was amazing, and I hope he does well.

Here's one by "the king" that I have been wanting to find forever.

The melody is very similar to the Cages of Wire that my daughters' grandmother sang to her when she was just a baby.

The sixteen pound baby has been in the local news quite a bit. He could have been twins.
Wooden Heart was in GI Blues, the first Elvis movie I saw. A fun film and I was captivated by the music.
