It's all right. Plenty of songs get played here that I don't care for too.
Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue is pretty good.

@edgarblythe,
Exactly, edgar, if we agreed on everything someone would be patronizing. Love that You Ain't Nothing but a Willow Tree by Donovan. Sounds as though he's talking about a girl who changes from day to day.

Another Willow Tree song. Let's do a comparison, shall we?

First Diana.

Now Sam.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for you comment, edgar. Thinking of your oddity and humor discussion, and I had a vinyl album called Jam Session that I lent to someone and it was never returned.

Don't know Sexy Sadie by The Fab Four, but I did read the summary about it. Thanks for the memory jog.

Going to say goodnight a bit early as I'm a wee bit tired.

First, from two great jazz players Bill Evans and Herb Geller. (he's the one who played the instrumental of Heather on the Hill)

Now, "old blue eyes"

Glad to have Barry the Brit with us.

Goodnight, edgar. When you awaken, I hope you'll connect with our radio station.

Ah, The Days of Wine and Roses. Had no idea that Perry did that one.

Hey, Brit. That is Francis Albert Sinatra at his best. What a wonderful mix of music from Antonio Jobim and "old blue eyes". I listened twice.

Today is Arlo Guthrie's birthday. Had no idea that he did this one, folks.

Good morning, radiofolk. I like Quiet Nights. That Sinatra version of the song is excellent.
Arlo had the hit version of City of New orleans when it was still new.

I thought of Fred as a decent actor and a good guy. I think his talents were often under used.

@edgarblythe,
I agree about Fred, edgar

Don't know that one by Deano and Polly. You and Your Beautiful Eyes is a good one. Thanks for the memory job, Texas.

Here's a tribute to a birthday boy that has come to be one of my favorite men in history. Unfortunately, he was TOO good.

I am not a scientific person, but that doesn't matter. What matters are his fantastic achievements.

Hi, everyone.

I saw that edgar mentioned Arlo Guthrie's recording of "City of New Orleans". The title refers to the name of a train that traveled from Chicago to New Orleans. The song was written by a Chicagoan, Steve Goodman. It was inspired by his frequent travels on the Illinois leg of the train's itinerary. He rode it every morning from Chicago to the University of Illinois, where he was a student.

When Judy Collins performs in Chicago she opens her concert with that song. I had the good fortune to attend one of her Chicago performances.

@Letty,
And here's Eveybody's Talking At Me,along with visuals,
from the forgettable 60s. Can you name the movie before you click the link?.

I bet Ed's been through that town shown a few times while on road trips out west.

@neko nomad,
Welcome back nomad man. Midnight Cowboy? I know the song, but mine was a feral guess.

Now, I'll see if I'm right.

I was. Thanks for the challenge.

Now, see if you can guess this pun. He's a real nomad man. Razz

Tesla is one of the great men in history.
I have Judy Collins' version of City of New Orleans on a compilation album that is two CDs long. She is one of my favorite people, as is Arlo.
I have watched Midnight Cowboy many times, because it keeps me connected with a stage of my life that involved coming to new cities, getting in hopeless situations as a broke stranger and so forth. I can empathise with both characters from the film. Lay Lady Lay was intended for Everybodys Talkin's place in Midnight Cowboy, but Dylan did not get it recorded soon enough.

David Bromberg is another creative Chicago songwriter. He wrote and performed a tongue-in-cheek blues song about a girlfriend. It's called "Testify".
