Great track by Randy Travis, haven't heard him in a while.
To be honest I was worried, I didn't know what to expect
when I read this....

@edgarblythe,
FWIW, the female singer is definitely Jennifer Warnes. She sang and made a huge hit of 'Up Where We Belong' singing a duet with Joe Cocker. Also she sang duet of the song '(I Had) The Time of My Life' with Bill Medley (one half of the Righteous Brothers), from the movie Dirty Dancing.

The Imagined Village - Cold Haily Rainy Night.

My hat is frozen to my head
My feet are like two lumps of lead
I'm stuck out here,half drenched,half dead
Standing under your window

Oh let me in the soldier cried
Cold haily windy night
Oh let me in the soldier cried
I'll not go back again oh

My father he watches down the street
My mother the bedroom keys she keeps
The doors and windows, they do creak
I dare not let you in oh

Let me in the soldier cried
Cold haily windy night
O let me in the soldier cried
For I'll not come back again oh

She rose up,she let him in
She kissed her true love cheek and chin
She took him between the sheets again
And she opened and she let him in ,oh

Then she blessed the rainy night
Cold rainy windy night
Then she blessed the rainy night
She opened and let him in,oh

Oh soldier soldier won't you stay with me
And soldier won't you marry me
Oh no my dear you're not for me
So fair the well forever

Then she cursed the rainy night
Cold haily windy night
O then she cursed the rainy night
That she opened up and let him in,oh

He jumped up all out of bed
He put his hat upon his head
And he's ran away with her maidenhead
And her mammy she's heard the din O

Then she cursed the rainy night
Cold haily windy night
O then she cursed the rainy night
That she opened up and let him in,oh

Steeleye Span - Hard Times of Old England.

Come all brother tradesmen that travel along
O pray, come and tell me where the trade is all gone
Long time have I traveled, and I cannot find none

And sing all the hard times of old England
In old England, very hard times

You will see the poor tradesmen a-walkin' by the street
From morning to night for employment to seek
And scarce have they got any shoes to their feet

And sing all the hard times of old England
In old England, very hard times

If you go to the shop and you'll ask for a job
They'll answer you there with a shake and a nod
And that's enough to make a man turn out and rob

And sing all the hard times of old England
In old England, very hard times

Our soldiers and sailors have just come from war
Been fighting for Queen and country this year
They come home to be starved, better stayed where they were

And sing all the hard times of old England
In old England, very hard times

And now to conclude and to finish my song
Let us hope that these hard times,
they will not last long
I hope soon to have occasion to alter my song, and sing
Oh, the good times of old England
In old England, jolly good times!

Oh, the good times of old England
In old England, jolly good times!

Oh, the good times of old England
In old England, jolly good times!

Good early morning here, WA2K folks.

Sorry that I cannot recognize each contributor. Thanks to all of you here.

The kids talked me into going to see the fireworks last evening. They were spectacular, but I had the oddest mental response.

Sometimes silence says it all.

@Letty,
Good afternoon WA2K, Hi all.
Some nice songs this morning, especially enjoyed James Brown,
I nearly didn't recognise him as I'm not to familiar with his early years.

Toni Braxton-Breath Again.

Good afternoon, WA2K, folks

Hey Brit. You "ease back", too. Loved that instrumental, incidentally.

edgar, do NOT overdo in the hot, hot, sun.

You know, Irish, I didn't know that one by James Brown either, but it seemed right for the occasion. Papa's Got a Brand New Bag is the one I recall by that great performer.

Loved Tony Braxton's Breathe Again. I also liked Unbreak My Heart by her, too.

Thanks for the introduction to Dido's White Flag.

Today is P.T. Barnum's birthday. Always enjoyed that guy's phoniness and features.
