@Ragman,
I'd like to echo the appreciation of Manhattan Transfer, I neglected
to comment earlier, to be honest I was a bit taken aback at what came
afterwards from Rex, very surprised.
I enjoyed "Turn On Your Love Light", good boppy song. I've always
liked Seal, powerful singer.
Some more from the wonderful Manhattan Transfer.

Oh as a dog owner and an animal lover I despise fireworks and
dread the Halloween celebrations every year.

I like Chanson D'Amour. They sing it very much like the Art and Dotty Todd version of old.
Now, the oldest Lloyd Price record I know

@edgarblythe,
Millie Jackson did an amazing version of that song too. Happy as a clam to find the not-too-overly-long 'good version' (similar smokey song-styling as Glady Knight)

@edgarblythe,
Oh yeah...awesome. Raw and powerful and authentic. Loved Lloyd Price's version of Stagger Lee, too.

Lloyd Price's "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" was great, a case of
original and the best I think.
I like Millie Jackson, oh you found an edited version, bravo.
Lovely song.

Agreed (about Lloy'ds version).

Love Nina Simone's silky voice.

Oh my!..I just found this little gem of Celtic(?) story-telling and images intertwining and coupling with the story (w/ lyrics):

@Ragman,
Millie Jackson - didn't know her, but that's a fine version of the song.

With me, I love Lloyd's and Elvis's versions of the song about equally. If I had to throw away my copy of just one, I would be paralyzed.

I adore Nina Simone. An original for sure.
I live a pretty insulated life. Loreena McKennitt is another artist that's very talented, with whom I am not familiar. An example of just how insulated my life is, I knew next to nothing about Katy Perry when I awakened this morning. Then I watched the Sunday Morning program, which featured about a ten minute segment on her. Now I can say I know who she is.

I am mostly stuck on Judy, Buffy, Joan, Janis (both of them) and the like.

Howdy all, really nice piece from LOREENA MCKENNITT, had
not heard her before, shes Canadian eh!. Nice video with it too.
Nice bit of pipe music from Ray Price, he's new to me as is Buffy Sainte-Marie,
shes kind of surreal, cosmic.
Time for a classic.

@edgarblythe,
Reverend Mr Black is a great song Ed, love a song about a
character, very good. Your 2nd song wouldn't play.
When I listen to Ray Price, I don't know, I see a barn dance
and a lot of couples swinging away or slow dancing.
Lovely scenery in the 1st one.
He actually reminds of the showbands we used have here in Ireland
in the 50's, 60's and early 70's. Unfortunately their history now.

The showbands seem very much like the shows in the USA, in those days.
Too much Heaven - I am listening to it now - is one of the Bee Gees' outstanding efforts.

Here's another group which I am aware was put together by a corporation or something but had some good tracks too

Re Ray Price. When I was in my early twenties, I worked for a man who lived with his parents at a spot that featured dancing and live country music artists. I spent some nights there to avoid a long drive home. The night Ray Price appeared, I was at a stage where country artists bored me. So, while Ray kicked out the jambs downstairs, I was upstairs, listening to some Harry Belafonte records. These days I regret my rudeness and the loss of seeing one whom I now regard as a great artist.

We live and we learn Ed, at least some of the time.
Plus it was your time to rebel.
I used to watch The Monkee's tv show when I was young, little Davey
and crazy Micky. Hey Hey we're the Monkee's ! Smile

@edgarblythe,
Buffy has a great voice, I'm still on the fence regarding
her songs though, she reminds me of somebody and I've been
racking my brains trying to think of who, driving me mad. Wink
