@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks for the comments on what we play here.

Ah, dear Janis. "...I met a girl who sang the blues and I ask her for some happy news, but she just smiled and walked away..."

Don't know I Need a Man to love, edgar. Thanks for that one.

Now here's a comparison of the same song by The Beach Boys and The Four Freshmen. See what you think.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djDm2JVMm9Y

The Beach Boys give credit to the Freshmen, incidentally.

Howdy Miss Letty, Ed & WA2K listeners.
Enjoyed Celtic Lady, Miss Letty. I'd probably prefer the
Four Freshman version but it's hard to compare as the
Beach Boys were singing live.
Ed I've always loved Janis..Oh the tickets for Neil Diamond
are sold out, but hey there's still some available for the Beach
Boys... Razz Razz
Seriously but I'm really looking forward to it, should be great.
In fact June has been really great for gigs, I've seen Bob Dylan,
Paul Simon, Imelda May and I've Neil Diamond to come, doesn't
get any better than that.
Now two tracks from a real favourite of mine, David Gray.
We love him here in Ireland....

edgar, I really like George Jones and was surprised that he covered some of James Taylor's music as does James cover his.

Hey Irish. Thanks for the comments. I think The Beach Boys were giving credit to The Freshmen. Not certain if Their Hearts Were Full of Spring was done live by them in the video, however.

Don't know David Gray, but I can see why you Irish love him. Really enjoyed This Year's Love and Please Forgive Me. Thanks for the introduction, buddy.

Here's James doing a George song, yawl.

Tennessee Whiskey by George was a good song, I was just
reading about him, a hellraiser in his day till a good woman
put him on the straight and narrow, like us all. Wink
James Taylor is in Dublin on the 12th of July, hmmm, I'm
thinking I might go see him, he's excellent.

Change of pace.......M People.

@edgarblythe,
That one by Jim Reeves was breath taking, edgar. The Flowers The Sunset The Trees. What a voice he had. Thanks, buddy.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, a classical piece. I think this one is referred to as "The Bells of Moscow"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-qip4uTTAg&feature=related

and now, a lovely one by "the singing bus driver"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXoH4gfMuv4&feature=related

I hope our Irishman has a great night as well. Always good to see London and Dublin here.

From Letty with love to all our A2K friends.

Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K peeps. As sunrise is not on my alarm clock when I'm on "holiday" I missed the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge yesterday.I don't think I missed much. Here's what they don't show on TV....

Stonehenge Summer Solstice 2011.

On a brighter note I've just heard that Welsh actor Richard Burton can have a star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame.

£28,000 has to be raised to cover costs.Just hope it will be nearby his lifetime love Elizabeth Taylor.
Here's his voice....

War Of the Worlds - The Eve Of The War.
Story By H G Wells, music by Jeff Wayne and the voice of Richard Burton.

Richard Burton was born Richard Walter Jenkins in the village of Pontrhydyfen, Neath Port Talbot, Wales. He grew up in a working class, Welsh-speaking household, the twelfth of thirteen children. His father, Richard Walter Jenkins, was a short, robust coal miner, a "twelve-pints-a-day man" who sometimes went off on drinking and gambling sprees for weeks. Burton later claimed, by family telling, that "He looked very much like me...That is, he was pockmarked, devious, and smiled a great deal when he was in trouble. He was, also, a man of extraordinary eloquence, tremendous passion, great violence.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, thanks for your comments on my goodnight songs, and your two Dons were fantastic. (no, not the mafia dons Razz ) Just as Don Williams observed, Lord I Hope This Day is Good, too.

Loved our Irishman's Viva la Vida. Live the life by Coldplay was excellent, especially the lovely art work visuals. I couldn't access his mystery test so I'm glad that edgar did.

Brit, don't think you missed much either on the Stone Hinge celebration. Couldn't hear Sir Richard's narration on the musical version of War of the Worlds, but I remember him best in Prince of Players. The story of Edwin Booth was one of the books I read as a kid. Love the music behind that H.G Welles classic. I tried to find the trailer for Orson's presentation on the radio but no luck.

Thanks for the info on Richard Burton and I do indeed think he deserves a star.

Two songs and two Freddies for the morning.

First, a birthday boy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2PteSXg7ac

Now a Mercury Man.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZaB2MqPxzs&NR=1

Yawl all hurry back.
