That was a real blast from the past from the Jackson 5, nice.
As was Mr smooth, Harry Belafonte, first time hearing that song.

Take That were playing in Dublin the last couple of nights, in Croke Park.
Now I only live 3 miles or so from Croker and had to listen to them like
it or not, the noise was unreal, a taster.

Now I was never a fan of Take That or Robbie Williams but here is
one song of Robbie Williams I do like.
Angels.

@eurocelticyankee,
That one by The Jackson Five was a surprise to me as well, Irish.

Like Robbie Williams' Angels and also Have You Met Miss Jones. Didn't know your first one by him, however.

Today is Brian Wilson's birthday. First, a bit of info.

Brian Douglas Wilson (born June 20, 1942) is an American musician, best known as the leader and chief songwriter of the group The Beach Boys. Within the band, Wilson played bass and keyboards, also providing part-time lead vocals and, more often, backing vocals, harmonizing in falsetto with the group. Besides being the primary composer in The Beach Boys, he also functioned as the band's main producer and arranger. Wilson's life was derailed by years of drug abuse and mental illness, contributing to tensions with the band. After years of treatment and recuperation, he began a solo career in 1988

Now a tribute to the guy.

I like Robbie Williams. Not a true fan, but he is good.
Don't listen to Beach Boys. Sorry.

One of my favorite Little Richard songs. The Beatles borrowed much of the arrangement when they recorded Kansas City.

@edgarblythe,
Just played that one, edgar, because it was Brian's birthday.

Wow! Hey, Hey, Hey by Little Richard almost got me awake. I like the guy, however.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, since it's Anne Murray's birthday, one by that lovely Canuck.

Tomorrow is the first day of summer here, but the Celtic Lady sings about the last rose of summer.

So nice to have London and Ireland with us on WA2K radio today.

From Letty with love to the world.

Good morning Miss Letty & all at WA2K.
Another dull & overcast day here in Eire, when is the
summer coming???.
Ed you don't like the Beach Boys?, I'm going to see them
next month, I guess you don't want to come with... Razz

Here's a guy who was really popular on the cabaret circuit
in Ireland for years, the great Joe Dolan...

Your such a good looking woman....(his signature tune)

Good morning. I guess I should keep quiet about my feelings concerning the Beach Boys, as I am in an insignificant minority. We like what we like. And, often, reason has little to do with it. I love Van Dyke Parks. Nobody on a2k concurs. Such is life. See ya all later in the afternoon.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, hurry back and once again, don't work too hard. Didn't know those teenagers, but I know about fools. I think it's a good thing to share different opinions on what we play here.

Brit, you and euroGeorge hurry back as well. Thanks for the introduction to Chris Rainbow and David McAlmont. The one musician that I knew of the great ones you played was Neil Diamond. Didn't know Van Dyke Parks, but love that violin.

I was fascinated with Mary Byrne and her song I Who Have Nothing.

If I fail to acknowledge all of what we listen and play on our cyber radio, I'll blame it on a sleepless night. Strange drumming sound around my studio window awakened me.

Two songs for the beginning of the day here.

First, a welcome to the summer solstice.

Now a fascinating one by Celtic Woman, who did the theme for Nights in Rodanthe. I've been there, folks.

I well remember this historical place there.

@JPB,
Thanks flower lady. I know all the lyrics to Summertime, incidentally. Ah, Louis and Ella. Hard to beat that combination.

I found all of my sea shells today, and it brought to mind the final verse of Oliver Wendel Holmes The Chambered Nautilus.

Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul,
As the swift seasons roll!
Leave thy low-vaulted past!
Let each new temple, nobler than the last,
Shut thee from heaven with a dome more vast,
Till thou at length art free,
Leaving thine outgrown shell by life's unresting sea!

I know Parks and the Beach Boys did a lot together, but my liking for him springs mainly from his Song Cycles album.

The Druids and Celtic Woman - very good way to start off. I always look forward to the fact that each day will grow shorter for a time after today.
