@edgarblythe,
Had no idea that Clint could sing, edgar, and I just learned that he can play piano as well.

Here's one inspired by "the cowboy"

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, I love Small World, but I didn't know that Johnny had done it.

Here's a place that I have been.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1300/4667505003_199624b721.jpg

Another Johnny whose birthday is today, but first a bit of info on the man which really surprised me.

Johnny Paycheck was the stage name of Donald Eugene Lytle (May 31, 1938 – February 19, 2003), a country music singer and Grand Ole Opry member most famous for recording the David Allan Coe song "Take This Job and Shove It". He achieved his greatest success in the 1970s as a major force in country music's "Outlaw Movement" popularized by artists such as David Allan Coe, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver and Merle Haggard. In the 1980s, his music career suffered from his problems with drugs, alcohol, and legal difficulties. He served a prison sentence in the early 1990s but his declining health effectively ended his career in early 2000.

Now the tribute.

Well, if it's John from Kentucky's birthday, I better wish him a happy one.

Well, time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First one to match yours.

When I was young, Edward G Robinson was one of my top four or five favorite actors. I still love him, but haven't watched him much in many years.
I know the Swallows song, but have never heard this version before.

Johnny Paycheck-Old Violin....that's a new one to me but,there's many a good tune played on an old fiddle.You just have to slow the tempo down.
Don't know about Swallows but the swifts arrived back a couple of weeks ago.Good to see them wheeling in the air catching bugs.
Welcome back Endeavour for the last time,and thank you.
Back to the music....

Good early morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, loved your goodnight song. Put Your Head on my Shoulder is one that reminds me of "...I'd like to put my weary head on somebody's shoulder..."

Hey Brit. Good to see you here this morning. Don't know This is My Country by Cyril Neville, but he is fantastic. Also enjoyed K.D. Lang's The Water's Edge. I recall her version of Skylark as being beautiful as well.

Strange, I didn't hear the sonic boom of Endeavor's landing, buddy.

I couldn't download your version, but here is what I should have heard.

and since today is Morgan Freeman's birthday, a tribute to him.

Good morning.
I have a KD Lang album which features songs that refer to smoking in one way or another. A good album nonetheless.

Morgan Freeman is a man I respect from what I have seen and read of him. I don't know any bad gossip.

Sad to see the shuttle program winding down, with not much to succeed it.

This next song refers to the only reason I got out of bed this morning

Hello again WA2K radio. Thanks again for your comments, edgar.

Brit, Your "endeavor" was much better than mine.

Also enjoyed K.D. Lang's version of Hallelujah.

Hurry back, buddy.

edgar, Jerry Lee's version of Money is funny. You hurry back as well.

How about a bit of Singapore.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. I know that Blue Tailed Fly by Burl, buddy. Had no idea that Lincoln liked it as well. Just as Walt Whitman wrote:

Oh, Captain, My Captain. He loved Lincoln.

Funny, I didn't know that a blue tailed fly might be this kind of fly.

As inspired by my contribution to your oddity thread, I thought of this one by Diana Krall.

@edgarblythe,
Great one by Leonard, edgar. That lost one must have been French Canadian. The visuals were funny, too. Thanks.

Ah, today is Norma Jean's birthday. "...like a candle in the wind..."

Poor Marilyn. Such a tragedy.
