@edgarblythe,
I didn't know that was a song of sadness, edgar. Thanks again for your comment, Texas

Loved Subterranean Blues by "the jester"

Hmmm. I was going to play Ginsburg's America, but it was a bit ribald, methinks.

Saying goodnight with two songs.

First Tom Waits. (not the greatest voice, but I still love it.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4CzLh-pLAE&feature=related

Now, Tony Martin, yawl.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnkS7oMP2Xk&feature=related

I love today on WA2K. Especially hearing from the dys.

Goodnight world,

From Letty with lots of love

Lots of artists (Tom is a great example) are not great vocalists, but they often produce some of the best recordings.
Every time I hear Tony Martin sing, I remember the Martin and Lewis radio show of the 50s. Tony and Dean had a "croon off." It was declared a tie at the end.

I am not the greatest Aretha fan, but I love this song.

Colbie Caillat - I Do.

It's always been about me, myself, and I
I thought relationships were nothing but a waste of time
I never wanted to be anybody's other half
I was happy saying I had love that wouldn't last
That was the only way I knew 'til I met you

You make we wanna say
I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do do
Yeah, I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do do
Cause every time before it's been like
Maybe yes and maybe no
I can live without it, I can let it go
Ooh what did I get myself into?
You make we wanna say I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do

Tell me is it only me
Do you feel the same?
You know me well enough to know that I'm not playing games
I promise I won't turn around and I won't let you down
You can trust I've never felt it like I feel it now
Baby there's nothing, there's nothing we can't get through

So can we say
I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do do

Oh baby, I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do do
Cause every time before it's been like
Maybe yes and maybe no
I won't live without it, I won't let it go
What more can I get myself into?
You make we wanna say

Me, a family, a house, a family
Ooh, can we be a family?
And when I'm eighty years old I'm sitting next to you

And we'll remember when we said
I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do do
Oh baby, I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do do
Cause every time before it's been like
Maybe yes and maybe no
I won't live without it, I won't let us go
Just look at what we got ourselves into
You make we wanna say I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do,
Love you

Good morning WA2K fans.

edgar, I really enjoyed Natural Woman by Aretha, and Harry's song about King Edward and Wally Simpson was great.

Hey, Brit. Don't know Colbie, but I Do was perfect. It is awesome that Sir Elton and his man would go to The Chapel of Love. Know that song, buddy.

Kool and the Gang's Celebration is a favorite of mine.

I watched the recessional for a bit on TV and it is impressive.

We also have royalty here this morning. Today is DUKE Ellington's birthday, so let's listen to a most unusual tribute to the man. I know the names of most of his songs. Wonder who else does.

Avec le temps...
...In time...

Avec le temps, va, tout s'en va
...In time, (it) goes away, everything goes away

...You forget the face and you forget the voice

...The heart, when it doesn't beat anymore, it's useless to

...search any further, you have to let go, and that's good.

Avec le temps...
...In time

Avec le temps, va, tout s'en va
...In time, it goes away, everything goes away

...The other one you admired, that you searched for in the rain

...The other one that you imagined in a sideway glance

...Between the words, between the lines and under the make-up

...of a painted promise, who leaves you for the night

Avec le temps tout s'évanouit
...In time, everything fades away

Avec le temps...
...In time

Avec le temps, va, tout s'en va
...In time, it goes away, everything goes away

...Even the dearest memories get an ugly face

...At the shopping-mall I rummage in the death departments

...Saturday evening, when tenderness flees on it's own.

Avec le temps...
...In time...

Avec le temps, va, tout s'en va
...In time, it goes away, everything goes away

...The other one, that you believed in for a cold, for a nothing

...The other one, to whom you gave wind, and jewelry

...For whom you would have sold your soul for a few pennies

...In front of which you crawled, like dogs do (lit.: like dogs crawl)

Avec le temps, va, tout va bien
...In time, it goes away, all goes well

Avec le temps...
...In time...

Avec le temps, va, tout s'en va
...In time, it goes away, everything goes away

...You forget the passions and you forget the voices

...That whispered to you poor people's words
...(Lit.: that told you in very low voice the words of poor people)

...Don't stay out too long, take care not to catch a cold

Avec le temps...
...In time

Avec le temps, va, tout s'en va
...In time, it goes away, everything goes away

...And you feel yourself turned white, like an exhausted horse

...And you feel yourself frozen in this bed, that chance got you into.

...And you feel all alone maybe, but comfortable

...And you feel wronged by these lost years

...Then really... in time... you stop to love.

Good afternoon here in Florida. I am recovering from an injury that I sustained last evening, but it didn't hurt my memory one bit.

The three songs played by the Duke's tribute were, In a Sentimental Mood, Mood Indigo, and It Don't Mean a Thing if it Ain't Got that Swing.

edgar, Loved Don Gibson's Legend in my Time. Didn't know Biff Rose's Mama's Boy, but it was nice, Texas. Thanks for the introduction.

Welcome back, Francis, and thanks for that lovely song by an equally lovely chanteuse. The translation was much appreciated. Remember Til the End of Time?

Here are a couple of songs to match edgar's.

First Don Gibson.

Now another by Van Morrison.

@Francis,
Thank you, Francis. It's getting better. You and I have what is known as genetic memory. (no, not instinct) I know songs that I shouldn't know, and I have finally attributed that to an extension of that gene.

Bet you remember this.

First, the classical version by Chopin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6S0VIy4SdY

Now, the adaptation by Perry Como.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back. Fantastic photo. Yes, tornados are everywhere. My daughter had to stock her shelter with the basics the other night.

Ah, love The Cascades Rhythm of the Falling Rain. Another memory jog.
