Good afternoon (here in Florida) WA2K, folks.

Wow! Your goodnight song by Ray Barretta was great, edgar. I never hear The Watusi song that I don't think of hebba. What a great Dane he is. Also enjoyed Bob Moore's Mexico, Texas. Don't know Love is Strange by Mickey and Sylvia, but I recall a song, "Sylvia's Mother Said." Thanks again for your comments.

Ragman, welcome back. Cry Me a River by Julie was great. Never heard Black Coffee by Peggy Lee, but I'm with you. I like her jazz recordings better. I guess everyone remembers her for Fever, however.

Hey, Brit. Glad to see you here again. Loved K.D.Lang's Helpless. Also loved her version of Skylark, and of course we know The Queen is a Lady. Tom Jones said it right. (hmmm, euroGeorge called me a lady as well)

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Miss Letty/Ms Letty is a wee bit warm.

More synchronicity, yawl. Today is Anthony Quinn's birthday, so I think that I shall play two songs in his memory.

First, The Shoes of the Fisherman.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5SpWxaLocQ&NR=1

Now, his role in Lust for Life.

Tomorrow is Good Friday, and I recall being appalled as a kid when it was all about Jesus' death on the cross. It scared me, of course.

I haven't seen Shoes of the Fisherman, but I have seen Lust for Life three or four times. I liked Anthony best as Zorba and in films such as Viva Zapata, The Ox-Bow Incident and Last Train From Gunne Hill.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, edgar. I didn't see either movie, but I read Lust for Life and The Shoes of the Fisherman. That's the reason for both trailers, Texas.

I recall Never on a Sunday by Melina Mercouri. Wasn't she a prostitute who was looking for a man who loved to live life to its fullest?

How about Sylvia's Mother Said by Dr. Hook, et al.

@edgarblythe,
Love that funny song, edgar. I think, so long ago, yitwail played that song because he was out of a job. Also played that for Soccer George's boys. Love it. Thanks once again for your comment on what we play here.

This one is inspired by your Songs That Tell Stories discussion.

I just watched the movie, What's New Pussycat. I saw the movie before I knew Tom Jones, and when he sang the title song, I noted that the singer was bound for superstardom.

You played the song for which I was originally searching. I knew it first from Ramblin Jack Elliot, but it was not there by him. Discovered George's song and went with it instead.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. Didn't know that one by Tony. Do you think that it might have been a metaphor for sadness?

Maybe you and the Mrs. should think of a trip to California.

@edgarblythe,
Never heard California by Joni, edgar. Lovely lady and a lovely voice.

Here's a great combination of "tramp" and California, Texas.

Old Blue Eyes and Ella.

UhOh! Mr. and Mrs. edgar have left on a jet plane headed for California.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a classic.

We'll dedicate that one to all our German friends, and hope that Ragman will be with us again as well as London.

From Letty with love to the world.

Frank and Ella together are pretty good, letty. I am not really that fond of most of Ella's music, but she does very well in some situations.
