Good glorious morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, loved your goodnight song. Don't know Jerry Wallace's Angel on my Shoulder, but it was great.

Your morning song, I do know but not by the guy with the Four Harmonisers. Love the way the lead singer rolled those "r's".

Hey Nomad/ traveler. Bertie Higgins' Key Largo was fantastic, and you sent me searching about the movie.

Ah, Bogie and Bacall. What a pair.

A birthday gal for this bright and sunny day, yawl.

Here she is with John Legend.

@Letty,
Here's the kicker, Letty: reality being the way it is, my fertile imagination most likely turns out being an afternoon for one (moi) in Margaritaville.

@Barry The Mod,
Glad that you had a great weekend with your family, Brit, and welcome back. Love that Teach the Children. Sometimes it turns out to be "don't do as I do; do as I say" Razz

Did you do the bike bit or the car?

Here's one by Sir Paul about his willingness to share.

Welcome back, Rock. Loved that one by Shemekia and Dobie. Used is a new one to me.

Now, inspired by neko nomad, one by "the sassy Sarah"

@Letty,
Would you excuse me for posting a French song, Miss Letty?

@Francis,
Of course, Francis. I got as far as "Is this how men/people" live? Razz

It is a beautiful melody by Catherine. Why not translate it for us.

While we wait for our friend, Francis to translate, here is a birthday boy. First, a bit of info.

Stuart Adamson (11 April 1958 – circa 16 December 2001), born William Stuart Adamson, was an English-born Scottish guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, described by legendary music journalist John Peel as “Britain’s answer to Jimi Hendrix". He founded the Scottish art-punk band The Skids and later the more mainstream rock group Big Country, as well as the 1990s alternative country rock act, The Raphaels.

@Letty,
Ouch, this one was difficult to translate..

It's a poem from Louis Aragon..

All is a matter of decoration
To change bed, to change body
What good is it since it is still
I who betrays myself
I who drags myself and scatters myself
And my shadow is stripped
In the similar arms of the girls
Where I believed to find a home.

Light heart,changing heart, heavy heart
Time to dream is quite short
What should I do of my days
What should I do of my nights
I didn't have love nor a home
Nowhere where I live or die
I passed like the rumour
I fell asleep like the noise.

Is this the way that men live?
And their kisses follow them from far..

It was an unreasonable time
The dead were put at the table
Sand castles were made
One took the wolves for dogs
Everything changed pole and shoulder
The play was funny or not
Me if I held my role badly at it
Nothing was understandable there.

In the Hohenzollern district
Between the Saar and the barracks
Like the flowers of the alfalfa
The breasts of Lola flowered
She had a heart of swallow
On the settee of the brothel
I came to stretch close to her
In the hiccups of the pianola.

Is this the way that men live?
And their kisses follow them from far..

The sky was gray from clouds
there flew wild gooses
Who shouted death while they passed
Above the houses of the quays
I saw them by the window
Their sad song entered my being
And I believed to recognize there
Some Reiner Maria Rilke.

She was brown she was white
Her hair fell on her hips
And the week and Sunday
She opened to all her naked arms
She had eyes of earthenware
She worked with valiancy
For an artillerist of Mainz
Who never returned from there.

Is this the way that men live?
And their kisses follow them from far..

There is other soldiers downtown
And the night the civilians come up
Put the mascara to your eye-lashes
Lola you will leave from there soon
Another glass of liquor
It was in April at five hours
At the small hours of the day that in your heart
A dragon plunged his knife..

This is as well as the men live
And their kisses with far follow.

neko, barry, rockhead and francis, I like the songs you posted. I know most of them. Not the French one, but francis's translation makes it the more enjoyable. I like the songs you posted, letty. Did not know some, but knew others.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, at least I got part of that French song right. Thanks to Paris for the more in depth translation.

That one by George was great, but my favorite was Frostiana by Randall Thompson. I was transfixed by that poem set to music. Thanks, buddy.

Incidentally, Mayerling also alluded to the fact that it was royalty that planned the man's death.

Today is Joel Grey's birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

@edgarblythe,
The only thing that I saw Joel in was "Come to the Cabaret", edgar.

Ah, Van Morrison. Love that guy and Into the Mystic was great.

Hey, where is euroGeorge? Bet he knows "The Irish Troubadour"

Another one by Van the Man.
