@edgarblythe,
I had no idea that Nat did it, so I thought that I would do his version.

Don't know that one by Roy Hamilton, edgar. He is really good.

Today is Paul Robeson's birthday. What a man; what a voice.

Here is a tribute to the man.

@edgarblythe,
I love Phil Ochs, edgar, but I had to find out about Joe Hill.

His last will, which was eventually set to music by Ethel Raim, founder of the group The Pennywhistlers, reads:

My will is easy to decide,
For there is nothing to divide.
My kin don't need to fuss and moan,
"Moss does not cling to a rolling stone."

My body? Oh, if I could choose
I would to ashes it reduce,
And let the merry breezes blow,
My dust to where some flowers grow.

Perhaps some fading flower then
Would come to life and bloom again.
This is my Last and final Will.
Good Luck to All of you,
Joe Hill

WOW!

Hey, It's Carl Perkins' Birthday. Here's a great one by him.

I like Carl Perkins. He wrote and had the hit record of Blue Suede Shoes. Then went in the Army. When he came back, his career momentum was gone.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Patsy doing Jo Stafford's song was great, but I couldn't decide if I liked Johnny's Dirty Old Egg Suckin' Dog or not, Texas. I know it's meant to be funny, however. Thanks for your comments and for hanging in with WA2K radio.

Going to say goodnight with this delightful song that just popped in my head.

Good morning, yawl. I'm here on cue, neko. Love The Ramsey Lewis trio, buddy. The In Crowd is great.

edgar, James Brown is always good. Hmmm, what if he really ruled the world. Would we have a brand new bag? Razz Thanks again for your comments

First, a song from a birthday gal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui2hJLaqsKM

Now, via cognitive insight, a poem.

WHEN I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has glean'd my teeming brain,
Before high pil`d books, in charact'ry,
Hold like rich garners the full-ripen'd grain;
When I behold, upon the night's starr'd face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And feel that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour!
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love;—then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think,
Till Love and Fame to nothingness do sink.

@edgarblythe,
Love his Ode to a Grecian Urn, edgar and thanks again for your comments.

Never heard that one by Sir Paul. How very different, Texas, and thank you for the memory.

Well, we're finally going to get Omar's REAL birthday.

Another tribute to the man.

@hamburgboy,
hbg, Welcome back. Remember when Victor Borge played that one upside down and backwards. Loved Brassed Off, buddy.

A funny duet with "The Great Dane"

See if you can figure out what songs he is inserting in this classic.

@Letty,
Good tribute to Omar. I like the man, but have only watched a few movies he appeared in.
Good one, hamburgboy.
I think I caught the names of most of the songs, letty. One, I missed for sure.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Stonewall Jackson, edgar, and thanks again for your comments.

the three songs were My Darling Clementine, The Bear Went Over the Mountain, and Happy Birthday.

I will never forget my two friends from Virginia who thought they could avoid the "blue laws" by going to another county in the same state only to find that it was Lee-Jackson Day. The "pop shop" was closed there as well. One looked at the other and said, "Who's Lee Jackson?" Razz

Here's one to match Stonewall's Angel, Texas.

What a fantastic beach and ocean, edgar The tide is out and the kids from Orlando are going fishing. Don't we both love Charlie Pride?

I know Amie, buddy, but had forgotten who did it. Thanks for the reminder of The Pure Prairie League version.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I really like The Everly Brothers, Devoted to You, and Paul Anka's You Are My Destiny was great. Thanks, Texas.

Good to have the nomad man with us today, and the German from Canada. Hope to see our Brit back tomorrow.

Great mix of music on WA2K.

While I was in a beauty salon today, I met a lovely Italian woman and we discussed the famous ones who sang. One was Andrea. Are yawl surprised?

I'm saying goodnight with this fabulous fellow.
