@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment on Van the Man, edgar.

I cannot believe how great Julius La Rosa could sing. Love Domini, Texas.

Saying goodnight with two songs.

First, a Moondance.

Now, an instrument song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADCBbWTa1s4&feature=related

Great day today on WA2K. Good seeing London and Paris with us and a vote of appreciation to the nomad man for reminding me that Sarah sang Strange Cargo Comes into Key Largo.

Where is Pancho? He's the one who reminded me of this.

It is sung in Southern Calabrian dialect and is about the sounds of musical instruments.

Goodnight world,

From Letty with love to you all. (yawl)

Eh Cumpari is a great song, letty. I have it on vinyl, by Lou Monte.
I appreciate the other Van song, also.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, thanks for your comments and I loved your goodnight song. Who would have thought that Lou Monte would have done Owe My Soul to the Company Store. My favorite was your morning song, however. Didn't quite understand some of the visuals that were there by The Rascals, but the animals and that guy dancing were fantastic.

Hurry back, Brit. The tribute to Freddy Mercury, and "the odd couple" ,as edgar noted, plus Mariah and Aretha were good together.

Didn't they call the wind Mariah at one time?

Today is this marvelous jazz musician's birthday, so let's give a listen.

I thought Herbie Hancock was even older than that (born, 1940). But he is great.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, I love "Gentleman Jim" doing Moonlight and Roses. Thanks for the comment.

Perhaps You had the two Herbies mixed up. Herbie Mann is dead, but here is a great one by him.

@Francis,
Well, believe it or not, that's one by "the chairman of the board" that I have never heard.

Where did tcp/ted go? I once told him something cheeky like: I've forgotten more than you'll ever know about Frank.

Well, Francis, here is one where he confesses.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, Francis and edgar.

As you know, I had no idea about Buddy Holly until Don McLean wrote American Pie. I have really come to appreciate him, however. Think it Over was a good one.

Here's a birthday boy that I have never heard, so let's listen to Vince Gill. He's good.

As you know, edgar, I have smiled about Stonewall Jackson's name and I really love Waterloo by him. I thought that you would know Vince Gill, and thanks again for your comment.

Here's a different version of Napoleon's Retreat.

@edgarblythe,
Lordy me, edgar. Willie's My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys was great, and then he implores: Mama, Don't Let Your Kids grow up to be Cowboys. May have missed a word or two in the title, but I know you'll know what I mean.

Today is Andy Garcia's birthday, but a reminder of some facts about his life first.

García was born Andrés Arturo García Menéndez in Havana, Cuba, with a dead parasitic twin on his left shoulder, which was later surgically removed. His mother, Amelie Menéndez, was an English teacher, and his father, René García Núñez, was an avocado farmer and attorney in Cuba, and later owned a fragrance business in the United States. García has an older brother, René. When García was five years old, the family moved to Miami, Florida after the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion. Over a period of several years, they built up a million-dollar perfume company. García was raised as a Roman Catholic and attended Miami Beach Senior High School, where he played on the basketball team. During his last year in high school, he became ill with mononucleosis,which convinced him to pursue a career in acting. He began his acting career taking a drama class with Jay W. Jensen in his senior year at Miami Beach Senior High School. He graduated from Florida International University in Miami.

Now, the tribute.

I tried to figure how I knew Andy Garcia's face, since I haven't seen any of his movies. Turns out he was in several TV shows I have seen.
