Hey, gang. Nice afternoon for WA2K radio.

edgar, I never heard Moon River by Jerry Butler. He was fantastic. Thanks for the introduction.

neco nomad, That was a funny parody by Homer and Jethro on Green Door. Made me smile. Thanks garden man.

euroGeroge, why should anyone remove that great and revealing song by "the jester". That 's one of his best songs.

"Hurricane" is a protest song by Bob Dylan co-written with Jacques Levy, about the imprisonment of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. It compiles alleged acts of racism and profiling against Carter which Dylan describes as leading to a false trial and conviction.

Now, one by Art Blakey. (great memory) that all of us will know.

Ah, Hoagy and Johnny. Can't beat that team.

The lyrics

Skylark
Have you anything to say to me
Won't you tell me where my love can be
Is there a meadow in the mist
Where someone's waiting to be kissed

Oh skylark
Have you seen a valley green with spring
Where my heart can go a-journeying
Over the shadows and the rain
To a blossom-covered lane

And in your lonely flight
Haven't you heard the music in the night
Wonderful music
Faint as a will o' the wisp
Crazy as a loon
Sad as a gypsy serenading the moon

Oh skylark
I don't know if you can find these things
But my heart is riding on your wings
So if you see them anywhere
Won't you lead me there
Oh skylark
Won't you lead me there

I'd say it was something Ed, I hope he plays it in June when I'm going to see him.

Thanks Texas and Ireland for your comments.

Ah, that's right. edgar did say it was difficult to find Dylan songs on youtube because of the copyright.

euroGeorge, that song by Paul Brady was wonderful. Don't know The Island, but I assume that it had to do with the IRA. Thanks for the introduction.

edgar, that one by the Fab Four was a new one to me. Within You; Without You was great: "...the marching band refused to yield..."

For all the working folks out there, here is one by Nat Adderly.

@Letty,
Hi, Letty, glad you liked " The Island", It wasn't about the IRA though, more about the futility of violence.
Nad Adderley was great, first time hearing him.

Ed enjoyed psychedelic Beatles. Heres one of my favourites.

@eurocelticyankee,
euro, I know every one of those songs. Especially love Penny Lane, buddy.

Here's a birthday boy that's new to me, so first a little info.

Agenor Miranda Araújo Neto, better known as Cazuza (Portuguese pronunciation: [kaˈzuzɐ) 4 April 1958 – 7 July 1990) was a Brazilian composer and singer, born in Rio de Janeiro. Along with Raul Seixas, Renato Russo and Os Mutantes, Cazuza is considered one of the best exponents of Brazilian rock music and poetry.

He died of AIDS. Crying or Very sad

I'm taking a chance with this song by him. I hope the English lyrics match the match the Portuguese ones.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr430s-JwBE&feature=related

I'm walking hunted (wounded?) on the ground
But I will stand here tall
Well I will stand here tall

Well if you want war with me
If you want war with me
If you want war with me, then bring on beef
If you want war with me
If you want war then you got war.

You try to rip me but I don't tear and I don't care
My skin is thicked out, our love was lost years before (?)
This time I'm ready for your war
But now I'm ready for your war

I should have put this flame out years ago
but you burnt my house down, I won't leave
and if I stand here alone in this dust I've got nothing left to lose
nothing left to lose

Cuz I see your ways and I know your plan
cuz you've been around and I've seen this place before
I won't do this anymore
but if you want war, you got war

So bring your friends out, I'll take my place and you take yours
and launch your guts out but will the parents (?) let us war
I should have seen this years before
but now I'm ready for your war

I should have crossed these borders years ago
but you left me somewhere I don't know (?)
and as I stand here in no-mans land
I contemplate your attack

Cuz I see your ways and I know your plan
cuz you've been around and I've seen this place before
I won't do this anymore
but if you want war, you got war

You can try and hurt me
I'll come back for more

Cuz I see your ways and I know your plan
cuz you've been around and I've seen this place before
I won't do this anymore
but if you want war, you got war

Cuz I see your ways and I know your plan
cuz you've been around and I've seen this place before
I won't do this anymore
but if you want war, you got war

Where's Robert Gentle when we need him

Kazuza - good, but would not make it a regular thing with him.
Love all those Beatles songs you both put up. There are only a few Beatles songs I don't like. Get Back is one. The Long and Winding road sounds okay, but is too long. I used to irritate my youngest brother by calling it The Long and Boring song.

@Letty,
Another Beatles song I don't like is Come Together. After that, I pretty much love everything. If I were forced to choose a favorite it might be Hey Jude.
I like Three Dog Night's song.

Morning all, loved the Beatles bits and bobs.

Returning to the Beatles theme (well, sort of),...... here's a little something from an interview with Joe Brown that was on TV a few nights ago.

It may be the case that Joe is pretty much unknown in the US of A, so a bit of background.

From Wiki:
"Joe Brown has worked as a rock and roll singer and guitarist for more than five decades. He was a stage and television performer in the late 1950s and a UK recording star in the early 1960s. He made six films, presented specialist radio series for BBC Radio 2, appeared on the West End stage alongside Dame Anna Neagle and has written an autobiography. In recent years he has again concentrated on recording and performing music, playing two tours of around 100 shows every year and releasing an album almost every year."

Early on in the Beatles career (1961?) Brian Epstein, their manager, was trying to get them known nationwide, as at that time, although they were popular in and around Liverpool, they were having trouble in filling various venues when they went on tour around the country.
Epstein contacted Joe (who was a household name by then) and asked him if he would do a few gigs here and there, with the Beatles tagging along as a support band.
Joe agreed and the tour was a great success, and by the end of 1962 the Beatles had gone into worldwide orbit...the rest is history.
Obviously Joe wasn't the only reason why the Beatles broke through, but he was proud that he helped in some small way.

Many years later, after all the fame and craziness of the 60's and 70's, Joe moved to a house in Henley on Thames (very posh area), which happened to be just around the corner from George Harrison.
One day, Joe's phone rang and he answered it.....

What you have to keep in mind is that they were both great jokers.

"Hello?"

"Hello Joe, now I don't know whether you remember me, but my name is George Harrison."

"Who?"

"I used to play in a little support band for you, back in the 60's. We called ourselves the Beatles"

"Never heard of them. Are you after money or something?"

"No, I just wondered if you'd like to bring your guitar round here and play some music with me this afternoon?"

This became a regular thing between the two, with George (if someone else answered the phone) introducing himself as Barnacle Bill the sailor and other silly names.
Joe and George would meet up regularly over the years, and the two families became very close.

One thing that Joe and George had in common was their love for the Ukelele. Both reckoned it was about the most underrated instrument of all time.

There was one ukelele song that Joe would always sing at these get togethers that George really liked, so much so that after he'd passed away in 2001, George's wife asked Joe to sing it as the closing song at The Royal Albert Hall, where a tribute concert was held for George in 2002.

I would imagine that there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

"I'll see you in my dreams"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKyCqZWdwHM

Joe is still going strong, and his gigs are as popular as ever, and he still plays this song as the finale.
