@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for your comments and explanation of Bob's song.

Do you think the past has come back to haunt us?

Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull do.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, I love Seven Spanish Angels by Ray and Willie. Thanks again for your comment, and I think we once again are on thin ice in America.

Here's one to match by Al Martino, but first a bit of info concerning the man.

Al Martino (born Jasper Cini,[October 7, 1927 – October 13, 2009) was an American singer and actor. He had his greatest success as a singer between the early 1950s and mid 1970s, being described as "one of the great Italian American pop crooners", and also became well known as an actor, particularly for his role as singer Johnny Fontane in The Godfather.

I think we have discussed this before, Texas, but Johnny was suppose to be Frank Sinatra. More later about that.

Well, yes, but I liked Al long before the Godfather movies (which I haven't actually watched).

Here is something we could use in this part of the country

@edgarblythe,
Don't know The Move, edgar, but I found out that they are from Birmingham, England. Love Watching Flowers in the Rain and I recall your having said that you had never seen The Mafia Movies. Razz

Well, I was watching dandelions in the rain. We really needed it here.

How about one by Eric.

@edgarblythe,
He sure does, edgar. Loved Horse with no Name by America. Need to check out the meaning behind that one.

Here's a weird poem concerning the desert, Texas and I have never quite figured that on out either.

Stephen Crane

In the Desert

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter – bitter", he answered,
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

Now, a beautiful instrumental with marvelous visuals. Anothe type of desert song.

I used to pore over Crane's poetry. He was not afraid to say what he felt.

Then there are islands

Tennessee Ernie did In the Middle of An Island, edgar? I didn't know that, buddy. It was great.

Hey, Irish, so long ago I was looking for that very song and ran across the one by Oliver and Hardy. Funny, those two.

Ah, Texas, love It Never Rains in Southern California. Thanks for the memory, buddy.

Thanks to Dublin and Texas for your comments on what we play here.

Time for me to say goodnight, and here's one by Bobby.

G'day, as they say in Canadia. Welsh heritage, Letty? OK, here's the girl from Tiger Bay (and a few others) Our Shirley appeared on the Morecambe and Wise show in 1971, but I suppose that this will mean not a lot to people from oevr the pond, so I'd better extrudicate somewhat. Morecambe and Wise were a comedy double act who just about topped the bill wherever they appeared in the UK during the sixties, seventies and even eighties. They had a long running TV show during this time, culminating in a Christmas special each year, when almost two thirds of the entire population would tune in to watch. I'm pretty sure that the other third would have also tuned in, if only they'd had a TV. A big feature of their show would be the superstar slot, where the mega famous would be invited to sing or perform whilst the daft duo would cause some sort of mayhem during the proceedings. This particular one with Shirley Bassey was when she was at the height of her career, so the ensuing antics made it all the more funny.

Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K folks.I may be showing my age here but that was top quality Brit light entertainment Old Goat.
I'm not a huge Elvis fan so it's not surprising that I heard this on the radio at work last night for the first time.Here's the back-story....
"Elvis sings Are You Lonesome Tonight live at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. A very special version from August 26 1969 !!! In this performance,after spotting a guy with a bald head in the audience,Elvis decided to change the text from "Do you stare at your doorway and picture me there" to "Do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair"and then cannot keep a straight face for the rest of the song, so he had to start laughing and keeps on laughing.The background singer is Emily Houston (from the vocal group Sweet Inspiration and mother of Whitney Houston) who continued her melody perfectly !"....
