Johnny Mathis - Yesterday When I Was Young.

Yesterday when I was young
the taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue.
I teased at life as if it were a foolish game,
the way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame.
The thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I planned
I always built alas on weak and shifting sand.
I lived by night and shunned the naked light of the day
and only now I see how the years ran away.

Yesterday when I was young
so many happy songs were waiting to be sung,
so many wayward pleasures lay in store for me
and so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see.
I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out,
I never stopped to think what life was all about
and every conversation I can now recall
concerned itself with me and nothing else at all.

Yesterday the moon was blue
and every crazy day brought something new to do.
I used my magic age as if it were a wand
and never saw the waste and emptiness beyond.
The game of love I played with arrogance and pride
and every flame I lit too quickly quickly died.
The friends I made all seemed somehow to drift away
and only I am left on stage to end the play.
There are so many songs in me that won't be sung,
I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue.
The time has come for me to pay for yesterday when I was young

This bunny is happy Very Happy

Still dark here in our wee radio studio.

edgar, thanks again for your comments.

I love Sting, especially Fields of Gold.

Don't know The Searchers' Bumble Bee, but it was great.

Ah, I caught our Brit before he climbed the pears/stairs.

My word, yawl, Johnny Mathis is still with us.

Well, I just discovered that William Shatner and Eric Berne are canucks. Rolling Eyes

Had no idea that Johnny did Yesterday When I was Young. Great song, London.

Today is this guy's birthday. What a terrible thing to have happened to him in a car wreck, from which he recovered, and then to succumb to colon cancer.

Hey, Texas, did you win the lottery?

Some joker in New York robbed me of the lottery last night. Fortunately, there will be more to come. Plenty to go around.

Sorry to hear you didn't win the lotto Ed, I was in New York
a few weeks back, damn, I should have bought a lottery ticket.
As if, Donald Trump probably won it.

Great one by Johnny, edgar. I recall your having told me he also did When Sunny Gets Blue. What a surprise. One of my favorite jazz ballads.

edgar, euroGeorge probably won it. We know all about the luck of the Irish.

Today is Diana Ross's birthday. She's Upside Down.

@edgarblythe,
The rich get richer and the poor get shafted.

Way of the world.

Irish luck went out with the leprechauns , Letty.
Just look at the state the country's in, and as usual
the poor are bearing the brunt of it.

Happy Birthday Diana, a true superstar.

@eurocelticyankee,
Great one by Diana, Irish. The title of her song gave me a shiver, however. I loved the looks on the guys faces as she kept changing colors.

Well, you're still fey. Why didn't you psych out Donald Trump. (can't stand that man).

Here's a new face on my horizon, and he is really great. Whatever it takes, buddy.

@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks for your comment, Irish.

Loved both of those Dylan songs. edgar claims that Sara was "the jester's" biography. I checked it out and found that hey were married but went through a bitter divorce.

It's Spock's birthday, and he has lived long and prospered. Here's a surprise. Had no idea that Leonard could sing.

@Barry The Mod,
Good morning, Brit. Glad that you and Dublin have kept us on the air.

Loved Jackson Browne's Pretender, and Jean Michel Jarre's Rendezvous in Houston was fantastic. Also loved Lara's theme, London.

Here are the lyrics:

Somewhere my love,
There will be songs to sing,
Although the snow,
Covers the hope of spring,
Somewhere a hill,
Blossoms in green and gold,
And there are dreams,
All that your heart can hold..
Someday, we'll meet again my love,
Someday, whenever the
Spring breaks through..
You'll come to me,
Out of the long ago,

Warm as the wind,
Soft as the kiss of snow,
Till then my sweet,
Think of me now and then,
God speed our love,
Till you are mine agein.
Someday, whenever the Spring
Breaks through...
You'll come to me,
Out of the long ago,
Warm as the wind,
Soft as the kiss of snow,
Til then my sweet,
Think of me now and then,
God speed my love,
Till you are mine again.

Two songs for the morning.

First a sunrise song.

Now, one to match our Brit's Pretender.

How very sad was his death. I had no idea that he was Asian, yawl.

Bob Dylan wrote Sarah before the final split. In it, he appears to be wishing they could patch up the marriage. Her picture appeared on the inside jacket of the album, Blonde on Blonde, but subsequent printings removed it. My album has the picture, because I bought the album the same day it hit the music stores.

Good Morning Folks.
Nice ones Barry, Seen Jackson in Lisdoonvarna 19881 and seen Jean in London 1993, Never seen his Dad though. Smile
Always enjoy Queen, Miss Letty and Afterlife were nice, chill music.
Ed sounds like you have a collectors item on your hands there.
It's funny how the best is brought out in artists with a broken heart. Sad
Nice bit of music Ed, brilliant video!

Like this guy, he never got over the break up of his marriage.
