@edgarblythe,
Great one by Johnny, edgar. I had forgotten about Gina Lollobrigida.

Today is Spike Lee's birthday and here is a great one that touts a capella.

Breakdown

I am always amazed the some a capella groups can coordinate their voices so totally.

@edgarblythe,
Love Bob's Breakdown, edgar. Yep, a capella is difficult since one must have great intonation.

More serendipity. I was looking for Live and Let live of another genre and came across this one.

first some info.

Arthur Lee (March 7, 1945 – August 3, 2006) was the frontman, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of the Los Angeles rock band Love, best known for the critically acclaimed 1967 album, Forever Changes

Don't know Arthur Lee, letty. Happy birthday anyway.
This song is the theme of a western my parents saw in 3D, sometime in the 50s.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, Texas, thanks again for your comments.

Don't know Johnny Western, but Hannah Lee was great.

Also tapped my foot to Conway and Lorretta's song. Love to do that.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a Celtic hymn and a poem.

Also some info on a place called Cat Island in Japan. They survived the tsunami.

First, Be Thou My Vision. I recall having awakened one night singing that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMttnek4868&feature=related

Now the poem by James Dickey.

Here they are. The soft eyes open.
If they have lived in a wood
It is a wood.
If they have lived on plains
It is grass rolling
Under their feet forever.

Having no souls, they have come,
Anyway, beyond their knowing.
Their instincts wholly bloom
And they rise.
The soft eyes open.

To match them, the landscape flowers,
Outdoing, desperately
Outdoing what is required:
The richest wood,
The deepest field.

For some of these,
It could not be the place
It is, without blood.
These hunt, as they have done,
But with claws and teeth grown perfect,

More deadly than they can believe.
They stalk more silently,
And crouch on the limbs of trees,
And their descent
Upon the bright backs of their prey

May take years
In a sovereign floating of joy.
And those that are hunted
Know this as their life,
Their reward: to walk

Under such trees in full knowledge
Of what is in glory above them,
And to feel no fear,
But acceptance, compliance.
Fulfilling themselves without pain

At the cycle’s center,
They tremble, they walk
Under the tree,
They fall, they are torn,
They rise, they walk again.

James Dickey

@Letty,
Johnny Western was best known for his rendition of The Ballad of Palladin.

James Dickey was a good poet.
The Celtic songs are also good.
I am glad Cat Island survived.
Here, Little Richard cuts up at first, but I love the song he does

edgar, loved your goodnight song, and thanks again for your comments on what we feature on WA2K radio.

Always loved Little Richard, and his Shake a Hand was great. Jackie Wilson's Reet Petite was a good one as well.

Welcome back, Brit. Those moon shots were awesome. I saw it and was transfixed by its beauty. Don't know Billy Red Love's Drop Top, but thanks for the introduction.

I think that my favorite was Chico's April Child. Great group, and thanks for listing the performers.

Today is J.S. Bach's birthday, and here is one by him that I really love.

@Francis,
Welcome back, Francis. You sent me searching again.

Lucia di Lammermoor is a dramma tragico (tragic opera) in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti. Salvadore Cammarano wrote the Italian language libretto loosely based upon Sir Walter Scott's historical novel The Bride of Lammermoor. The opera premiered on 26 September 1835 at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. Donizetti revised the score for a French version which debuted on 6 August 1839 at the Théâtre de la Renaissance in Paris. The story concerns the emotionally fragile Lucy Ashton (Lucia) who is caught in a feud between her own family and that of the Ravenswoods. The setting is the Lammermuir Hills of Scotland (Lammermoor) in the 17th Century.

Fabulous, buddy. It was difficult to believe that the young man singing to those awesome violins had such a lovely falsetto.

For some reason, your song reminded me of La Dolce Vita and also the fountain in Rome. (well, all roads/songs lead there)

Here are a couple of the melodies that I recall.

@Letty,
Bach - What can you say about perfection?
Three Coins in the Fountain is one of my favorites, as is Tony's The Good Life. Was not familiar with francis' music. It's great too.

@edgarblythe,
I love Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man, edgar, and thanks once more for your comments. I see the man as a giver of music in a positive way.

Here's is how I picture a Hurdy Gurdy (street organ)

Thinking of Eliot's The Hollow Men:

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends

Not with a bang but a whimper.

He called them "straw men", but T.S. Eliot has always been a bit cryptic.

This one may have been about Sir Francis Drake.

Visuals don't depict it, however
