Good afternoon, edgar, eruogeorge, and our Brit. Thanks for all the Irish music as well as that from London town. Wish I could comment on each one, but I have been having dear kids here who have totally restored all my faulty outlets.

edgar, There is a bit of Irish in all of us.

Two songs for the afternoon on WA2K radio. First, a fantastic new discovery.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for your comment and that song by Sam Cooke. He was a fabulous singer.

Well, It's Rob Lowe's birthday and I recall him from "the brat pack" and that he was born in Charlottesville, Virginia. Here's a tribute to him, but for the life of me, I can't figure out who is singing I Just Called to Say I Love You.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for identifying the vocalist behind Rob's tribute, edgar. I should have known that.

Don't know Freddie Cole, but I love Whispering Grass. Thanks for the memory.

I was inspired by your Cool Water song and decided that a mirage is also called this name. This will be our poem for today:

Fata Morgana by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

O sweet illusions of song
That tempt me everywhere,
In the lonely fields, and the throng
Of the crowded thoroughfare!

I approach and ye vanish away,
I grasp you, and ye are gone;
But ever by night and by day,
The melody soundeth on.

As the weary traveller sees
In desert or prairie vast,
Blue lakes, overhung with trees
That a pleasant shadow cast;

Fair towns with turrets high,
And shining roofs of gold,
That vanish as he draws nigh,
Like mists together rolled --

So I wander and wander along,
And forever before me gleams
The shining city of song,
In the beautiful land of dreams.

But when I would enter the gate
Of that golden atmosphere,
It is gone, and I wonder and wait
For the vision to reappear.

Now, a tribute to another birthday boy.

The idea by Tam O' Shanter was simply John Barley Corn as was that unusual green fields piece.

@Letty,
Freddie Cole sounds a bit like Nat, his brother, to me.
Kurt Russell - we got to watch him grow up in the movies.
I like Longfellow, letty.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I didn't know that Freddie was Nat's brother. Thanks for that info and your comments on what we play here.

Ben Colder is hilarious doing his parodies on famous songs.

Today is this guy's birthday, and he performed with The Lovin' Spoonful.

@Letty,
John Sebastian was generally pretty good.
THat hole in the bottom of the sea reminds me of one I almost played last night: Burl Ives singing about a little white duck.
Good one, djjd.
