@edgarblythe,
edgar, I think I read Pygmalion. Need to check that out. Love George Bernard Shaw.

Love My Happiness by Connie Francis. Thanks, Texas.

Today is Andy Gibbs' birthday, so we are going to play a tribute to that young, talented guy, but first some shocking (to me, anyway) news concerning his death.

Death

In March 1988, Andy Gibb celebrated his 30th birthday in London while working on a new album. Soon after, he entered John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, complaining of chest pains. He died on 10 March 1988 just five days after his 30th birthday as a result of myocarditis, (an inflammation of the heart muscle) due to a recent viral infection. The Bee Gees' following album, One (1989), featured a song dedicated to Andy, "Wish You Were Here". Andy Gibb is entombed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Hollywood Hills) in Los Angeles. His father, Hugh, died four years later on 5 March, Andy's birthday, and is buried close to Andy.

That's how my friend Bob died. I recall him having told me that he had terrible allergies when he was young.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't know that version of Wish You Were Here either, edgar. I thought it was going to be the other version. "..someone's painting the leaves all wrong this year, wish you were here..."

Thanks again for your comment, and loved Tanya's Old Dan Tucker's Daughter. Didn't know that one, but I most certainly know "...old dan turner was a fine old man, washed his face in a frying pan..." Razz

I'm going to do this one by Phil Collins which I may have done before, because I just found out that the talented guy is giving up music.

Dimewars.com : Phil Collins - Singer/songwriter Phil Collins may be calling it quits from the music business. Reportedly Phil developed hearing problems, has a dislocated vertebra and nerve damage in his hands from playing the drums.

How sad, yawl.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar. I never hear Nat that I don't think of my mom. Love the song is ended, buddy.

Here's a great one by the Duke during the jazz age.Lyrics will follow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-n13ibccSE

I let a song go out of my heart
It was the sweetest melody
I know I lost heaven 'cause you were the song

Since you and I have drifted apart
Life doesn't mean a thing to me
Please come back, sweet music, I know I was wrong

Am I too late to make amends?
You know that we were meant to be more than just friends, just friends

I let a song go out of my heart
Believe me, darlin', when I say
I won't know sweet music until you return some day.

They also did Missed the Saturday Dance.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Don't know Hey Joe by Deep Purple, but that introduction sounded classical, and it will be stuck in my head the rest of the day.Tried to find the meaning behind the song, but once again, no luck. Thanks for the comment about The Duke.

Somehow, Texas that classical bit at the beginning of your song reminded me of this one.

Somehow, the English lyrics that I found simply don't match the Spanish

@Letty,
Here's the translation, Miss Letty:

What pretty eyes you have
Underneath those two eyebrows
Underneath those two eyebrows
What pretty eyes you have

They want me to watch them
Only, if you don't leave them
Only, if you don't leave them
Not even to blink..

Charming Malaganian
I'd want to kiss your lips
I'd want to kiss your lips
Charming Malaganian

If you despise me for being poor
I grant you reason
I grant you reason
If you despise me for being poor

I do not offer you wealth
I offer you my heart
I offer you my heart
In exchange for my poverty

And to tell you, beautiful girl,
You are pretty and magical
You are pretty and magical
Like the candor of a rose..

@Francis,
Fantastic, Francis, and thanks.

"..like the candor of a rose..." is awesome.

I don't particularly like this gal's voice, but since I know the song, I think that I'll play it anyway.

The English lyrics.

Rose, Rose I love you with an aching heart.
What is your future, now we have to part?
Standing on the jetty as the steamer moves away,

Rather reminds me of Une Belle De
Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay.

Make way, oh, make way for my Eastern Rose.
Men crowd in dozens everywhere she goes.
In her rickshaw on the street or in a cabaret,
"Please make way for Rose," you can hear them say.

All my life I shall remember,
Oriental music and you in my arms.
Perfumed flowers in your tresses,
Lotus-scented breezes and swaying palms.

Rose, Rose I love you with your almond eyes.
Fragrant and slender 'neath tropical skies.
I must cross the seas again and never see you more.
Way back to my home on a distant shore.

All my life I shall remember,
Oriental music and you in my arms.
Perfumed flowers in your tresses,
Lotus-scented breezes and swaying palms.

Rose, Rose I leave you, my ship is in the bay.
Kiss me farewell now, there's nothin' to say.
East is East and West is West, our worlds are far apart.
I must leave you now but I leave my heart.

I am not familiar with that treatment of Malaquenia, but I like it. - Never thought of Rose Rose I love you in a Japanese way, but it works.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar.

Nana's White Rose was beautiful, but a bit sad. Odd, my daughter brought me a white rose bush. Hope it blooms.

This following is an adaptation of Madame Butterfly. Like the opera by Puccini better, however.

Don't know that one by Bob Lind, edgar, but Elusive Butterfly was great. Thanks again for your comment.

Here's a funny one and it's quick. Just as mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow, so do butterflies come from caterpillars.
