@edgarblythe,
Yes, edgar, I know that you like Mario. Hmmm, I thought for a bit the plethora of birds, both wee black ones and the robins had disrupted our signal.

You sent me to the archives again, buddy.

Erik Darling (September 25, 1933 – August 3, 2008) was an American songwriter and a folk music artist. He was an important influence on the folk scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Here's one to match Erik, Texas.

These two are new to me, but they are excellent.

Erik Darling's most recognizeable hit was likely Walk Right In. He was of The Rooftop Singers at the time.
I know Molly Darling best by Eddy Arnold, but those guys did it well also.
Here is Tennessee Ernie

@edgarblythe,
I know Molly Darling by Eddie as well, edgar. I saw where Erik was a part of The Rooftop Singers, but I didn't pay much attention to who comprised the group.

Love that song by Tennessee Ernie, Texas. I recall seeing the movie, but don't remember one thing about it. Poor Marilyn(Norma Jean) Her entire life was a tragedy.

Here's a birthday man. Don't know him at all, but with a name like Doc Watson, thought that I see how he sang.

@edgarblythe,
Like that version of Jambalaya, edgar. Jerry Lee knows how to rock it, all right.

Speaking of which, tomorrow is "march forth" so how about a funny four piece band.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by The King, edgar. Hope Barry Marsh is all right.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a classical piece based on a theme of Paganini

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgtEUr_n9vM&feature=related

If I'm not mistaken, I think the lyrics are Somewhere in Time.

Glad to have London and Paris with us today.

from Letty with love to all

Canada sent a Frigate to waters off Libya the other day, hopefully just for good measure, but as the tensions rise, i start feeling bad for the soldiers who might get caught in another stupid war,made me think of this song

I'm lyin' in bed, I'm in room twenty-six
Thinkin' on things that I've done
Like drinkin' wi' squaddies and bullin' my boots
I'm countin' the medals I've won

These hospital wards they're all drab lookin' joints
But the ceiling's as much as I see
It could do with a wee touch of paper or paint
But then again, maybe that's me

Oh sergeant, is this the adventure you meant
When I put my name down on the line
All that talk of computers and sunshine and skis
Oh, I'm askin' you, sergeant, where's mine

I've a brother in Glasgow wi' long, curly hair
When I joined up he said I was daft
He says shootin' strangers just is nae his game
That brother of mine is nae saft

But I can put up wi' most things I've done in the time
I can even put up with the pains
But what do you do with a gun in your hand
When you're faced with a hundred odd wanes

Oh sergeant, is this the adventure you meant
When I put my name down on the line
All that talk of computers and sunshine and skis
Oh, I'm askin' you, sergeant, where's mine

Here is a song Leonard Cohen wrote. It was recorded in English by Judy Collins and it was titled "Priests."

Good morning, WA2K folks.

dj, so glad that you are with us again. Loved The Dubliners' Sergeant Where's Mine. Reminds me of euroGeorge. Hope he is all right.

Rock, at first I thought you were referring to classical gas. Razz Love Jumpin Jack Flash, Kansas.

Ah, edgar, Ella and Mr. Paganini was great. Thanks Texas.

Welcome back, Brit and we're glad you are all right as well. Loved The Right Stuff and the theme from Rocky. Never heard that one by Mark Knopfler. Fantastic! You hurry back, too.

Morning, edgar. I had forgotten Dear Prudence by the Fab Four. Thanks for the memory jog, buddy.

That Flamingo singer, Enrique Morente, was awesome. I think these must be the English lyrics by Leonard.

And who will write love songs for you
when I am lord at last
and your body is some little highway shrine
that all my priests have passed,
that all my priests have passed?

My priests they will put flowers there,
they will stand before the glass,
but they'll wear away your little window, love,
they will trample on the grass,
they will trample on the grass.

Quote for today, and this is a surprise, yawl.

He who knows not and knows not he knows not, He is a fool - Shun him. He who knows not and knows he knows not, He is simple- Teach him. He who knows and knows not he knows, He is asleep - Awaken him. He who knows and knows that he knows, He is wise- follow him.
Bruce Lee

Today is Miriam Makeba's birthday, so here is one by the great lady.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment on Miriam, edgar

Great version of There Will Never Be Another You, Texas. Chris did it differently, buddy.

Here is an jazz instrumental version of the same song. Love it by Nat Cole, too.
