@Rockhead,
My goodness. Everyone drops into our radio studio then runs away. Razz

You hurry back as well, Rock. Enjoyed Never Say Die by JBJ.

Today is Karen Carpenter's birthday. Here's a memory by that talented lady who died too early from anorexia nervosa. Please keep in mind that anorexia is just a loss of appetite. The other is a clinical condition.

Never Say Die, and we've only just begun to live.

@edgarblythe,
My word, edgar, I had forgotten about Grandpa Jones. Loved the Hee Haw show, buddy. Thanks again for your comment, Texas.

How about some Old Joe Clark.

It was the musicians more than the cornball humor that kept Hee Haw alive, I believe.
Well, here is one by the Duprees from way back

I have a wonderful version of this song by Tony Bennett, but could not find it. So, here it is by somebody who also does it justice.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, loved both your songs. Didn't know that The Duprees did You Belong to Me. Only remember that one by Jo Stafford.

My word, Texas, I had no idea that Nat did Let's Face the Music and Dance. I do recall Diana Krall having done it. Love it!

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First a birthday boy, Chris Martin, who sang with ColdPlay.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSODkdm2F6g

History in a song.

Now, Tears for Fears answers Chris.

Glad to see London with us today.

To everyone

From Letty with love

Morning Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K peeps.Starting at the history desk....
As mysterious as Stone Henge. Older then the Pyramids of Egypt and its been getting the winter Solstice since 3,200 b.c.e. minus the 400 years it was all blocked up. Due to over growth. And those drystone walls are still standing Shocked .

Newgrange Megalithic Passage Tomb.

Here's the music....

Clannad - Newgrange.

There is a place on the east
Mysterious ring, a Magical Ring of Stones.
The druids have lived there once they said,
forgotten is the race that no-one knows.

Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo

The circled tomb of a different age
Secret lines carved on ancient stone.
Heroic Kings laid down to rest
Forgotten is the race that no-one knows.

Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo

Wait for the sun on a winter's day
and a beam of light shines across the floor.
Mysterious ring, a Magical Ring.
But forgotten is the race that no-one knows.

Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo.

Here's a lady who used to sing with her sister in Clannad until she struck out on her own....

Enya - Journey of the Angels.

Somewhere
In a winter night
The angels
Begin their flight;
Dark skies
With miles to go,
No footsteps
To be lost in snow.

They fly to you
Oh, new-born king
They fly to you
Oh, angels sing
One is sorrow
One is peace
One will come
To give you sleep
One is comfort
One is grief
One will take
The tears you weep

New star
In a midnight sky
In heaven
All the angels fly
Soft wings so true
And all things
They will give to you

Somewhere
In a winter night
The angels
Begin their flight

Tonight
All sing
Oh, angels,
A new-born king
Tonight
All sing
Oh, angels
A new-born king

Fallen, broken.
Simply dissolved into an incomplete thought.
An empty shell, cracked, and disfigured.
With no remorse, I have been blinded by the darkness.
With no disdain, I have received my punishment.
And with no haste, I await them.

My eyes don't see the obvious
It's way too far to go
Forget about the rest of me
There's nothing left to know

I see fallen angels
When I try to go to sleep
And they're always watching
I see fallen angels
As I'm walking in the streets
Silently preparing
For what they'll do to me

You see, I'm kinda paranoid
My luck, it seems to have run out
So I will point the finger now
Beyond the shadow of a doubt

I see fallen angels
When I try to go to sleep
And they're always watching
I see fallen angels
As I'm walking in the streets
Silently preparing
For what they'll do to me

I see fallen angels
When I try to go to sleep
And they're always watching
I see fallen angels
As I'm walking in the streets
Silently preparing

I see fallen angels
I see fallen angels
When I try to go to sleep
(I see fallen angeeeeeels)
I see fallen angels
As I'm walking in the streets
(I see fallen angeeeeeels)
Silently preparing
For what they'll do to me

Mornin' all. Just been listening to Radio 2 on the internet and consequently missing the UK a bit more than usual this morning.

Love the Newgrange thing, barry. Spooky!

Radio 2 just played something that made me sit up and take note - not usually the style of music that I go for, but this girl pretty much smacked me round the head with her voice and attitude.

Great message in the song as well.

She'll go far!

Hurry back, edgar. Loved If I Ruled the World by Tony.

Rock, Poets of the Fall was awesome. Don't know that Swedish group, but thanks for the introduction.

Hey, Brit. Wow! Fantastic discovery. Megalithic older than Stonehenge? New Grange's Winter Soltice was great as well, and thanks for the English lyrics.

Enya's Journey of the Angels was great as well. Certainly know St. Louis Blues by Ertha Kitt. Don't know Shorty Rogers, however.

Jerry Lewis and the typewriter was funny. Thanks!

Francis, love Bob Marley's Hypocrites and Ra Fallen Angels. I think that dogma is what makes main stream religion unbelievable.

Old Goat, welcome back. My favorite songs are by acoustic instruments. Jessie Price was great.

Hope that I didn't miss anyone.

TCM is doing Mario Lanza's The Great Caruso. I especially like this one by "Joe Green" Razz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9zpUKbLXsM

I think it was Verdi's only opera done in Egypt.
