@edgarblythe,
That was Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise, two comic geniuses.
I grew up laughing at these guys, they were so funny and the stars
queued up to be humiliated by them, in a nice way, miss them.
I'll say goodnight folks with a last clip of Eric & Ernie with Shirley Bassey.
Goodnight yawl.

edgar, I like Dee Clark's Raindrops. Don't know him, but he's good.

Irish, that was a great parody. If a star doesn't get made fun of occasionally, then he isn't on top, right?

I think it was Kevin Costner who said that Hollywood had lost all it's creativity and I agree.

Another parody of Gene.

@Letty,
Just caught that, Letty, brilliant. Jackie sure can move,
how did he do that with the coat. Now he's a real performer.
Goodnight Miss Letty & Ed.

@eurocelticyankee,
So sorry that I missed your goodnight song. That funny version of Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Shirley was wonderful

Time for me to say goodnight as well, and I think I shall do so with two wonderful people, Perry and The Bard.

And now my favorite sonnet by Shakespeare.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Shakespeare: Sonnet 116

From Letty with love and a dream

Good morning from here in our Florida studio.

Hey, Rock. Loved Little Red Riding Hood. Thanks, buddy.

edgar, also missed your Paul Anka song, Put Your Head on My Shoulder. Love it.

Two songs for the morning, folks.

First, a tribute to James Dean whose birthday is today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mV0QQcY8Uc&NR=1

Now, thanks to our edgar, a notable jazz song from his list.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrytKuC3Z_o

and, the lyrics

Cigarette holder which wigs me
Over her shoulder, she digs me.
Out cattin' that satin doll.

Baby, shall we go out skippin?
Careful, amigo, you're flippin',
Speaks Latin that satin doll.

She's nobody's fool so I'm playing it cool as can be.
I'll give it a whirl but I ain't for no girl catching me,
Switch-a-rooney!

Telephone numbers well you know,
Doin' my rhumbas with uno
And that 'in my Satin Doll.

By Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn and Johnny Mercer.

@eurocelticyankee,

I see on our TV next week there is to be an Audrey Hepburn season.

This will doubtless interest at least one of your listeners.

I like the song played with the James Dean tribute.
Satin Doll, too.
Its also Jules Verne's birthday. I did not see a video about him that I wanted to bring here.

We were doing many songs by Gene Kelley yesterday.

On an early morning in May, in a forest in the Highlands of Scotland, Tommy Albright and Jeff Douglas, two Americans on a hunting holiday, are lost. Despite the fact that there is no town shown on their map, one suddenly appears out of the Highland mist. Being hungry and tired, they decide to explore the town in search of food and rest.

I'm a bit concerned about Barry the Brit as well.

That film of 20,000 Leagues is a fine adaptation. I have watched it three or four times, over the years. Recalling Verne's From the Earth to the Moon, now and being reminded, oddly, of this song

Hi Yawl, nice tribute to James Dean, Miss Letty, died way to young,
he'd actually be 80 today. Haven't seen brigadoon in years, ach a noo.
20.000 Leagues Under the Sea was a great movie, I love Jules Verne,
I used to devour his novels as a child. Enjoyed Mr Tambourine Man
by The Byrds as well Letty.
Eddie Cantor- If You Knew Susie was great Ed, nice dames Wink
Enjoyed Eight Miles High too, first time hearing it. Don't know
why but it reminded me of these guys...
